Star Tours fue una atracción de simulación ATLAS basada en la saga de Star Wars. Fue inaugurada en en parque Disneyland en 1987 reemplazando definitivamente a Adventure Thru Inner Space.
Más de una década después de haber rechazado su guión y tras unos pocos años de haber trabajado juntos con Captain EO, Disney vuelve a contactar a George Lucas para proponerle un proyecto ambicioso: Crear un simulador donde los visitantes viajaran en una nave espacial por el universo de Star Wars, Lucas inmediatamente aceptó y de inmediato se pusieron a trabajar en ello. Mientras Lucas se encargó de la filmación, Disney se encargó de mandar a construir algunos simuladores basados en tecnología de entrenamiento para aviación militar pero para pasajeros. El enorme espacio dejado por el recorrido omnimover de Adventure Thru Inner Space fue lo suficientemente amplio para meter cuatro simuladores ATLAS.
Una vez llegados los cuatro simuladores al parque finalmente había llegado el momento de meterlos en los cuartos asignados, eso sí se enfrentaron con el problema de que todos ellos resultaron ser más altos de lo que se esperaban, por lo que hubo que subir más la altura de los techos, lo que retrasó considerablemente la fecha de inauguración. Una vez adentro y ya con el filme terminado, se procedió a la sincronización de la película con los movimientos del simulador, lo que retrasó todavía más la fecha de estreno.

Cuando los pasajeros abordan el Starspeeder 3000 con destino a Endor, el Capitán Rex los saluda y les
da la bienvenida confesándoles que este es su primer vuelo, de inmediato este abre la cortina de la cabina e inmediatamente la nave sube por el ascensor para dirigirse a la plataforma de lanzamiento, pero en lugar de seguir recto Rex dobló a la izquierda hacia el área de mantenimiento, con lo que el Starspeeder cayó por un precipicio de varios metros de altura logrando recuperarse apenas y sobrevolando otras naves que estaban en mantenimiento hasta lograr salir por la puerta, Rex avisa a los pasajeros que no pasa absolutamente nada y de inmediato le ordena a R2-D2 que proceda a saltar al hiperespacio.
Cuando baja la velocidad todo marcha bien hasta que Rex se da cuenta de que se pasó y dejó Endor atrás, para colmo se topa de frente con una lluvia de cometas que termina atravesando inclusive volando dentro de uno y colisionándolo, una vez afuera Rex se asegura de que todos los pasajeros estén bien hasta que repentinamente la nave es atraída pos un destructor estelar, entonces una nave rebelde le dispara logrando soltar al Starspeeder y de inmediato Luke se comunica con el vuelo de Star Tours preguntando desde su X-Wing qué estaba haciendo en una zona de batalla, de inmediato le pide que lo sigan y es llevado por la trinchera de la Estrella de la Muerte. Después de afrontar dichos peligros uno de los X-Wings destruye la Estrella y se alejan todos de inmediato, Rex ordena a R2 que salten al hiperespacio y de inmediato llegan al puerto de Star Tours, donde al aterrizar Rex aplica los frenos y logra detener el Starspeeder con tanta suerte a pocos centímetros de impactar con un tanque de combustible. Rex se despide de sus pasajeros y le cierran la cortina.
Curiosidades[]
En una de sus partes bajas, Rex tenía un cintillo que decía "Remover antes de volar", lo cual explicaría su torpeza vista en este vuelo.
El Starspeeder del área de fila fue ubicado en el mismo lugar donde estaba originalmente el Mighty Microscope.
