The Mandalorian es una serie de televisión live-action de Star Wars de Lucasfilm. Se estrenó en Disney+ el 12 de Noviembre de 2019. Es la primera serie de televisión live-action de Star Wars.

Resumen

Después de las historias de Jango y Boba Fett, otro guerrero emerge en el universo de Star Wars. The Mandalorian se sitúa después de la caída del Imperio Galáctico y antes del surgimiento de la Primera Orden. Seguimos los esfuerzos de un pistolero solitario en las afueras de la galaxia, lejos de la autoridad de la Nueva República.

La serie comienza propiamente con la introducción de El Mandaloriano, un enigmático cazarrecompensas que es considerado uno de los mejores. Después de aceptar un trabajo misterioso de un cliente no identificado, el Mandaloriano se encuentra con un dilema moral cuando se entera de que su recompensa es un pequeño niño indefenso. Ahora en la carrera, el mandaloriano debe hacer todo lo posible para proteger al niño, incluso cuando descubre que él mismo esconde un secreto.

Desarrollo

La serie fue anunciada por el CEO de Disney Robert Iger durante una llamada de ganancias trimestrales de Disney el 9 de noviembre de 2017. El 10 de mayo de 2018, Jon Favreau reveló durante una entrevista con Anthony Carboni que estaba a medio camino de escribir una temporada para la próxima serie de televisión. Favreau confirmó con Dan Casey de Nerdist que el programa se desarrollaría siete años después de la Batalla de Yavin y presentaría personajes totalmente nuevos.

El 6 de agosto de 2018, The New York Times informó sobre Disney+ y declaró que la serie de televisión Star Wars de Favreau costaría alrededor de 100 millones de dólares por diez episodios. En un correo electrónico a The New York Times, Favreau declaró que el nuevo servicio de streaming de Disney permitiría la oportunidad de contar historias de varios capítulos.

La serie fue escrita y producida por el productor y actor Jon Favreau, nominado al Emmy, como se anunció previamente, con Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) dirigiendo el primer episodio.
