Imagine if you made The Lion King, but took out the music, Nala, and Timon and Pumbaa. That's essentially what the Mulan remake is doing. This doesn't feel like a remake of Disney's Mulan, it feels like a retelling of the original Mulan folktale. Which is fine and all, but you shouldn't market your movie as something it's not. The music, Mushu, and Shang, are the reasons that Disney's Mulan is Disney's Mulan instead of just Mulan. What's the point of remaking it if you get rid of all of the original's purpose.
I’m serious if there’s no Mushu and the songs don’t call it “Disney’s Live Action” because it’s not like this
I think this is AMAZING. It isn’t about the original animated movie, it’s based on a Balled poem of Mulan it has nothing to do with the loved little dragon Mu-Shu and the lucky cricket. I think their taking a realistic version. In my opinion (which some may disagree with) this is a beautiful interpretation of the poem that it’s based on! :)
As I said, I'd be fine with a different interpretation of The Ballad of Mulan. But this movie is marketing itself as a remake to the film DISNEY'S MULAN. These were instrumental parts of the film, and shouldn't be simply discarded.
No Mushu, no watchie #Mulan
Mulan will be the only remake I will watch.
It looks amazing for a mulan film done like crouching tiger hidden dragon. But it feels more adult martial arts film than a Disney family movie. I know that sounds weird but look at the comparison. Mushu better be in it. That is what will make it a family film, the comic relief.
WHERE IS MUSHU
Honestly I can’t wait for this movie. It’s the only remake that has interested me so far, and yeah, there may be some things missing, but it has a lot of potential and I think it’ll turn out great.
