I watched onward pretty ight movie. Characters were solid. I kept seeing so many articles about a single line in this movie and it pisses me off. Basically this one cop lady says “my girlfriends daughter got me pulling my hair out.” And now this is some moment in history?. Also This movie also has been banned in many countries and has been removed which is dumb because of how subtle it is and how big it’s being treated. “It’s the first gay Disney character.” *Cough* I mean 7th gay Disney character (in movies no tv shows) because we’ve done this so many times and this one single line from an original movie with a character who frankly is a supporting character is treated like a moment in history? I’m going off of all the different times it’s been banned in different countries but Disney has done this seven times and it’s the same thing. Subtle representation from a background character or from a main character that doesn’t effect the plot at all but then gets treated like it’s the biggest thing ever and gets banned and sued in different countries. There actually has been some subtlety in on other Disney movie which I wasn’t gonna mention cause no one noticed and it was already a big enough movie so it was a tiny thing that slipped by. But in endgame the director plays a gay character talking about his date in which he says “my job, his job.” It’s just a simple line it’s nothing it’s not treated any bigger then it’s supposed to be the character is in fact an extra plus he’s the director but still he just talks about his male date. But actually editing this I looked at lots of articles discussing that scene as a milestone and oh boy is that a lie. So I’ll include that now. But anyway we have leafou (sorry if it’s spelled wrong) from the beauty and the beast remake who’s kind of a side character but they make him gay which is kind of weird considering that he’s just a live action version of a animated character who I believe so wasn’t gay. But then there was so so many people pissed off. But then there’s Elsa who was supposed to have a girlfriend in frozen 2 but apparently they’re saving that for the third one but she is confirmed to be a lesbian according to Disney but she doesn’t show any indication of that in either of the frozen movies so I’m starting to think it was to get people to shut up. There was one scene in finding dory which was clearly put in my Ellen to be a life changing moment featuring a lesbian human character standing next to a woman. Which was really dumb considering that it caused a super crap storm online that some people sued the movie before it came out even though this is a 4 second scene at least. I didn’t even know about this until now. Valkyrie is bisexual which literally no one cares about. But then we have Star Wars which was rumored to have gay characters in the sequel trilogy but they forgot about that so they threw a lesbian kiss from two random characters just to satisfy people. To be far the characters aren’t completely background characters. One of them we see in last Jedi and in rise of Skywalker so I could at least call her supporting but her wife who she kisses towards the end of the movie. Is a new character but she does at least help in the battle of exegol. But that scene was cut overseas but they still didn’t want to make the clearly gay Finn and Poe kiss because that’s to far and they don’t want the LGBT characters to have any real impact. Then we have the one line from onward which indicates that cyclops lady has a girlfriend and a stepdaughter.
Man 7 moments of history Disney really seems to be doing great lgbt representation. it does suck that other countries are banning these things though. But it’s also dumb considering how big of a deal it’s made when it’s so subtle and doesn’t effect the movie. Well I’m sorry you lesbians and gays. Better luck next time.
We’ll have to see if eternals lgbt kiss is a big deal or not. Considering it’s already being sued before we even have footage of the movie.
But watch their tv shows they have done really good gay characters and I don’t see much complaints from Anyone with that.
