Today was December 11 which is Dream Productions (2024) 1 years old anniversary!!!
I cant believe time files fast
December 11, 2024-December 11, 2025
I finally killed it. I gotta say this was the great spin-off series I have ever enjoyed. Just to remind you this story took place between the events of 1 and 2.
I really enjoy the story of Paula Persimmon.
In case you didn’t know, the director we saw back at the first movie was actually her. I’m surprised they change her design which looks a lot better.
And this whole fiasco started just because she uses Rainbow Unicorn for her dream. Paula just can’t seem to stop living in the past huh?
She was the star and prideful director back when Riley was 2, but now she’s becoming a tween, she’s having trouble with it, especially that her dreams need to be what 12-year-old Riley wanted. Even Janelle states that Riley needs to have mature dreams that Riley wanted. And Paula’s bad actions can cause problems to not her allies but Dream Productions as well. But I’m glad she manages to fix her mistakes and makes amends with Janelle and admits she’s a fantastic director, and she even gives Xeni the chance to become the official director that he wanted. And because of her stopping Jean from creating a horrific dream, got her promoted to commissary and Paula take her place as the new CEO.
Also, Janelle literally became best girl and a sweetheart. She was AD for Paula but wanted to make her own dreams and now she has the chance, and she believes that the dreams Riley wanted needs to describe who she is as a tween, unlike Paula. Heck, she even had no trouble standing up to Paula and Jean.
Also, let’s not forget sarcastic, jerky but supportive Xeni. He may be a bit rude and all to himself, but he was a great supportive character. So he was alright, and kinda funny.
Also, Jean Dewberry, the MA of this show. At first she seems like a chill and diva-ish woman, but at the end of the show, she seems like a bad and evil boss. Heck she even takes Xeni’s script as an advantage ignoring the fact it will destroy Riley. She seems to remind me of Anxiety, but unlike her, she didn’t seem to see the error of her ways. So her getting to demoted to the commissary is well deserved.
Also, I like how the series just focus on one topic: Riley going to the school dance. With her going to find a dress to getting someone to go with her, but every time Paula tries to fix the problem, it results in Riley being in worst conditions like the goth dream and Riley into sleepwalking.
So when she came to talk to Riley about it, this gives her the opportunity to not only give the Mind Workers the best dance party but also had the chance to go to the dance and make it the best one yet!
So all I have to say was that was the best spin-off series I have ever enjoyed. Really like to see how Paula struggles to give the dreams that Riley wanted, but she’s able to fix her mistakes and becomes a fantastic CEO. I just wish we get more of the story, and I wanna know who was holding the camera throughout the series, Oh well….
Thank you Mike Jones for creating this show, and thank you Paula Pell, Richard Ayoade, Maya Rudolph, Ally Maki, Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Tony Hale, Liza Lapira, Kensington Tallman, and everyone else who work hard on this spin-off!
I give this a solid 9/10! Great show!
Hey everyone, it’s been a while, but we’re here watching the final episode of Dream Productions, and boy it was a mind-blowing finale. Let’s check it out.
We start with Xeni working as a trainee at the Commissary, which was a terrible position he’s in. All he can think of now is getting revenge on Paula.
Meanwhile, Riley is having trouble with going to dance, but Bill suggest that she sleep on it.
Back at Dream Productions, because of the near-death experience from Riley, Jean states that all scripts are locked, meaning that the directors can’t make changes and have to accept what the writers wrote, and Teen Riley is now the new actress. And it’s all thanks to Paula.
Meanwhile Xeni had finish his script and place it for Paula to get revenge on her. In the meantime, Paula officially hits rock bottom. Make matters worse, Paula’s hit dream, “Farewell My Paci” had officially forgotten. When she check out her script, she was horrified oh what she read;
The first part shows Riley coming to the school dance and met Grace, Bree and Teen Riley while wearing the dress Jill gave her. The second part is her entering the dance but with a couple of boyfriends. The third is Mermaid Unicorn.
Jacob told Xeni that what he did is a bad thing. Xeni explains it will, but realize Riley will dreamt it and it will destroy her. So he try to find Paula but it was too late.
Riley still having trouble about the dance, and because of the script, Paula decides to quit. Xeni arrives and tell Paula he wrote the script, and it they already give it to Janelle. Horrified, Paula rushes to Janelle while Xeni went to tell his aunt what he did.
When Paula explains, Janelle refuses to listen to her, thinking that she’s not happy for her. Jean arrives and says that the script was brilliant, much to Paula’s dismay. Paula and Xeni reason her to stop. Even Janelle, who now read the script, refuse to direct it. So Jean fires her, kicks all of three of them out and decides to direct it herself.
Paula apologies to Janelle and the two make up and Fink brings the trio back. And so, the trio try to stop the dream happening, from Janelle switching the dress to Xeni getting the Imaginary Boyfriends to fight. Paula tells Jean to stop but she refused. And with help from Mel, she removes the filter causing her and the others to enter Riley’s dream. Or in other words, a lucid dream.
Paula went to talk with Riley. She told her that if this dream wants her to not go, but Paula tell her it’s her dream. So Riley decides to add a little pizzazz, she gets the best dancing dream of her life. She may not remember the dream, but Paula will.
Everything is back to normal at Dream Productions, Jean gets promoted to the Commissary to which she totally deserves, Janelle gets her job back, Xeni is now an official director, and Paula becomes the new Head of Dream Productions. And Riley made this school dance the best one of her and the students’ lives.
So what do I have to say about this episode?
That….was…..AWESOME!!!!
One of the best finales I have experience. I’m happy that Paula finally accepts of who Riley is in order to make some pleasant dreams. The dreams that fits Riley’s current age. And it was so sweet to see her reconcile with her best friend Janelle. And everything is back to normal for her and for Riley.
So, fantastic finale! I give this a 9/10.
But what are your thoughts of this episode?
Episode 3 started as a great success but ends with a great disaster. Let’s check it out!
We continue to where we left off. Paul rehire Xeni on three conditions:
Xeni and Paula are not best friends.
All of Paula’s happy props were burned.
They go to Café Maturity to find some ideas for Riley’s dreams.
Paul thinks that coming here was a terrible idea, or so she thought? Because she came across Canadian Boy, and it was the perfect solution!
So, she gives this idea to Jean about CB for the next dream, which she accepted because Riley was dealing with the next situation: Who will she go with to the dance?
During production, CB was having a bit of a trouble, but thanks to Paula’s pep talk, he proceeds his acting, and the dream was a HUGE hit! Some of the other directors talk about their concerns about this hit, even Janelle stated that once you’re a director, your dreams will affect Riley or it will crumble, so she’s happy that Paul did it. Speaking of Paul, she’s back at her old office, and Xeni is now working at the closet, but he’s okay with it.
On the next production, Paula tells her team that the studio wanted more of this, so they had to go all night for this to work. Xeni was against it, but Paula had to this, otherwise she’s out. CB and the crew are ready for this, even Joy and Sadness are excited.
Jean came by to check on Paula and team and she bring the Feelsen Machine, it’s to show how Riley FEELS that it’s a great dream or if it’s not.
So the production begins, CB taking Riley on a horse ride but things starting to go down. Turns out the script is just 10 pages of horse riding. While the crew think of a solution, the ratings immediately go up. Turns out Xeni has something up in his sleeve, he created another boy for Riley and CB to start a love triangle.
Well two can play it that game, because Paula created more boys for Riley, which cause the duo to have a boyfriend war which is gone of control that Paula, Xeni, the other beings in Riley’s mind and even the Emotions to experience something from Riley for the first time: Sleepwalking. Thankfully, they stop her from getting herself into something worse. However, that costs Paula to lose her old office and which is now Janelle’s. She and Xeni were called to Jean’s office.
When they got there, Jean got a furious phone call from Anger, threatening her to never let that happen again. Jean was furious at the two. Not only they break the wake-up button and put Riley in danger, but they got the other DPs in the parents’ mind to be furious at Jean too. Bill was having a flying dream.
The reason Jean hire Xeni in the first place was because his father and her brother beg her to, but because of this bad performance, she assigned him to work at the café. And she gives Paula ONE LAST CHANCE to make a great mature dream for Riley, or it’s the brain farts.
And that's the end. Man, what is with these episodes ending with the worst cliffhanger.
Anyway, not Paula is at her darkest hour, I just hope she finds a way for an excellent idea. And poor Xeni, getting his job to be taken away.
Also, seeing Anger go ballistic on Jean just shows that the Emotions are the higher-ups/CEOs of Riley's mind (I should've known that from the first movie but still.). And I don't blame Anger being furious. Sleepwalking is very dangerous, and if Riley died from that, then everyone in the mind dies as well.
Also, Riley's mind is connected to her parents' mind? That's new.
So what Paula's going to do now? Guess we'll have to see in the finale.
I give this episode an 8/10.
And shoutout to:
Noah Bentley for voicing Canadian Boy
Lauren Holt for voicing Paper Teen Riley
Well, that's everything I have to say, but what are your thoughts of this episode?
Okay, we are back with another episode of Dream Productions, let’s how our dear Paula continues without Janelle.
We start off with the aftermath, Paula states that she learns some things without an assistant director and the film was a disaster due to the Rainbow unicorn prop, which results in a wakeup from Riley and Paula getting a new office at a shed. Jean, who was furious about what happen, decides to give Paula a new assistant director: her own nephew, Xeni.
Xeni explains about Paula’s work on making dreams, always too happy and positive, to which she reply that she make them so Riley could feel happy and even commented of his daydreams. But she hire him anyway.
Later on, everyone was focus on a new topic on what dress Riley would wear for the dance, something the Emotions can’t handle, and Paula have a perfect setup for that. So after convincing Rainbow Unicorn, who was injured from the last film, she managed to start her film, which turn to be more worse than the last one she did. Even Xeni stated this is a like copy of “Forest Dance Party” but without the colors.
Because of the film becoming a complete failure, a bathroom was converted to be Paula’s new office, and Rainbow, furious of the negative reviews from the magazines, quits on working with Paula. She then fires Xeni for not supporting the project and takes Janelle as an example, but Xeni already reassigned.
Later on, Paula check out a VHS tape of her and Janelle working and decides to bring her back. She went to where she was producing her film and the new director was happy to see her. Other Mind Workers came to Janelle about problems, but Paula explains the situation. She ask Janelle to come back as her co-director, but she refuses, claiming that she hired her as one because she always sees her this way. After that, Janelle began her dream called, “Hey Look It’s Me”, which turns to be a big success.
The next day, Jean came to Paula and thank her for bringing Xeni in (unaware that he’s fired). She then states because of Janelle’s huge hit can boost Dream Productions, she feels like one director would be replaced, causing to feel worried.
And that’s the end. Boy Paula is really hitting rock bottom. Now that she fires Xeni, what is she’s going to do now? She better find a way or it bye-bye to Dream Productions. We’ll have to find out on episode 3.
For now, great episode. I give this an 7.5/10.
But what are your thoughts about this episode?
I know, I know, I know! I am EXTREMELY late to this spin-off series, and I apologize. I was so busy with college and everything, also I was in the Poppy Playtime mood, so yeah. But my final semester is finally over, and my Poppy mood is dying down, so I’ll try to go back to where I lost last with not just this but Loud House, MHA, Demon Slayer, etc.
But enough about my life, let’s focus on this review.
If you guys remember in December 2024, Disney and Pixar release a spin-off called “Dream Productions”, which took place between 1 and 2, or as the Emotions called it, “an inbetweenquel”.
I wanted to watch it on the day it was release, but I was away for the holidays to celebrate with my big family, and it was awesome!
But enough about that, let’s get straight into part 1 of Dreams Productions.
So, we start with Director Paula Persimmon and Assistant Director Janelle Johnson working on a movie named “Farewell My Paci” which will help Riley to remove her pacifier, and it actually works. While the Dream Productions crew celebrates their big success, Paul hopes that Riley will never change until nine years later with Riley now 11.
At Emotion Headquarters, we met the original five; Yellow positive Joy, green disdainful Disgust, red irritated Anger, purple scaredy-cat Fear and blue emotional Sadness.
Joy explains while they help Riley show how she feels, the memories they made were sent to Dream Productions for extra processing. While dreams are random, they are actually amazing stories done by Paula. Paula stated that she and her assistant and best friend, Janelle had been directing dreams when Riley was two, with “Farewell My Paci” being a huge hit. There are also other directors as well; Marco for sports, Sheng for action, Gigi for nightmares and Zack for comedy. Paula is for fun.
Meanwhile Janelle says that she did a good job being assistant director and helping Paula by being charge of making sure everyone, except Fink, make Riley’s dreams come true, but she always wanted to direct her own dreams, and she just submitted her resume and had an interview. Now she just needs to tell Paula.
Paula then looks through the memories and plan to used Riley’s Mermaid Unicorn toy for the production though Janelle denies it. So they went to the Archives and take the prop with them. Along the way they ran into Xeni, who is charge of producing daydreams like “Does That Cloud Look Like a Hockey Puck?”, “Everyone's a Robot But Me”, and “My Secret Sister Lives Across the Street”.
While Paula, Janelle and the Dream Productions crew began to film, the two directors were called by Head of Dream Productions, Jean Dewberry, on an emergency directors’ meeting. Jean explains that Riley had a few wakeups in the middle of the night and tell them to add more successful films. She reminds Paula that her will start tonight and hire Janelle as the new director, much to Paula’s surprise and dismay. Janelle stated that Riley needs better dreams and cupcakes and snowmen won’t work. Paula seems okay and hope that she will come back, but you can tell she is saddened by this.
But Paula continues her film without Janelle. It’s a dream of her attending a dance party. And what she did actually impress Jean and the Emotions as well. But things turn south when Paul commands the clamshell prop, and then, a total disaster, thus ending the episode.
So yeah, what a great start, and as much I’m proud for Janelle for becoming director, I feel bad for Paula in this state, missing her best friend and whatnot. Now I’m starting to wonder how she going to handle the dreams without her. She’s gonna be in a huge waterfall. Maybe Xeni will come and help her. Who knows? Guess we’ll have to see on episode 2.
For now, great start. I give this an 8/10.

I haven’t watched Dream Productions yet(I don’t have Disney+ and internet stream websites still haven’t upload the series for no reason.😭), but seeing Riley with Grace and Bree together moments before dancing is very sweet and heartwarming.😍
Knowing this series is set before IO2, it very sad we couldn’t see much of them before they went to different schools. Kinda makes me want a series that focus only on Riley and her friends.
