Nearly all remakes before now had at least a decade or two to brew at least some nostalgia to garner some families to watch it.
This one doesn't even have that, and will have to rely almost entirely on visuals to actually be good imo

Merida I think was the most tomboyish since she did things that was supposed to be made for males, like archery, along with her despising princess life.
Mulan I can understand, but she mainly only did boyish things to keep undercover while disguising as a man. After that point, an argument could be made for the sequel and the fist film's finale that she did retain some boyish attributes, but I can't be sure
At least with the other remakes, there was nostalgia to pull from due to its age, which is at least something
Moana isn't even 10 years old yet. No one is nostalgic, so there is absolutely nothing carrying this movie in the box office
Ralph and Vanelope felt more like close friends or maybe a sibling bond rather than father-daughter
Sulley and Boo actually bonded to the point that Boo looked up to Sully and he would do anything to keep her safe
