First of all, the author of the lion king books wasn't even associated with disney. That being said his backstory for scar doesn't line up with what disney said. The part of the backstory that I'm focusing on is how he got his scar. In the books, he was still referred to as Taka, meaning "dirt" and "garbage" in swahili, before he got his scar. He was angry that his father had chosen to break his promise of hunting with him that day. He then accused his father of favritism over his eldest son. Later, taka tricked mufasa into talking to boma, the leader of the buffalo. He was hogging the water and there was a huge drought going on in the pridelands. Boma tried to attack mufasa, but instead went after Taka, giving him the scar on his eye. Ahadi, his father, intervened and brought Taka to Rafiki. after being healed by rafiki, Taka said that he wants to be referred to as scar to serve as a reminder of his mistake. In the Lion guard, Scar had appeared to O'shari, and evil cobra, as a fiery lion inside a volcano. He told O'shari how he had gotten his scar, according to diney. back when he was the leader of the guard, he had followed a bad lion up to a cliff and a cobra jumped onto his eye, giving him the scar. He then used the roar to blast the lion and his followers away. He thought mufasa would be proud, but he just patted him on the head and nicknamed him scar. That's when Taka became scar. It bothers me that no one knows the backstory of his scar that DISNEY gave him. Please do your reasearch.
