  • Beginning with the Blu-ray and DVD releases of Mulan (2020), the navy blue warning screen which had been in use on Buena Vista DVD's and VHS tapes since 2003 is finally retired and replaced with a new one, identical to the warning screen found on releases in the United Kingdom.

  • January 6 - The Disney Channel became an uninterrupted to limited commercial service after 22 years of being commercial-free.
  • January 17
    • The Walt Disney Company announced that they have dropped the Fox name on both 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight Pictures and were respectively renamed as 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures. Its logos and fanfare were still kept intact.[63]
    • EPCOT International Festival of the Arts is held until February 24.
  • January 28 - Following the renaming of 20th Century Fox to 20th Century Studios and Fox Searchlight Pictures to Searchlight Pictures, its animation arm 20th Century Fox Animation was incorporated and registered legally as 20th Century Animation, Inc.[64]
  • February 7- Pinocchio celebrated its 80th anniversary.
  • February 25 - Bob Iger, chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company, has stepped down from his role, and has named Bob Chapek of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, as its new CEO. He will assume the role of Executive Chairman and its Board of Directors to ensure a smooth transition through the end of his contract with the company on December 31, 2021.
  • March 2 - EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival is held run until March 15; it was originally set to close on July 5, due to COVID-19 pandemic.
  • March 11 - Frozen played its final performance on Broadway, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • March 24 - Disney+ was launched in Austria, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, and Switzerland.
  • April 2 - Disney+ launched in the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
  • April 3 - Disney+ was launched in India via its existing service, Hotstar, while also rebranding its paid tiers as a co-branded service.
  • April 7 - Disney+ was launched in France. For its launch, Canal+ became the exclusive distributor for Disney+.
  • April 8 - Disney+ surpasses 50 million paid subscribers after its launch on November 12.
  • April 15 - The Walt Disney Company has elected its new CEO Bob Chapek to its Board of Directors. Chapek, however, will not be joining any board committees for the time being.
  • April 30 - Disney+ was launched in Monaco, Wallis, Futuna, New Caledonia, French West Indies, and French Guiana, through its premium service provider Canal+.
  • May 18
    • Josh D'Amaro was named as the new chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, taking over from former chairman and current CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Chapek.[65]
    • Rebecca Campbell, who served as President of the Disneyland Resort, was named chairwoman of Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer & International, taking over from Kevin Mayer.[66]
    • Jeff Vahle, former President of Disney Signature Experiences, was named as President of the Walt Disney World Resort.
    • Ken Potrock, former President of Disney Consumer Products, was named as President of the Disneyland Resort.
    • Kareem Daniel, former President of Walt Disney Imagineering Operations/Product Creation/Publishing/Games, was named as President of Disney Consumer Products.
    • Thomas Mazloum, former Senior Vice President of Resort and Transportation Operations at the Walt Disney World Resort, was named as President of Disney Signature Experiences.[67]
  • May 31 - 20th Century Studios celebrated its 85th anniversary.
  • June 16 - Fantasia 2000 celebrated its 20th anniversary.
  • June 23- Pocahontas celebrated its 25th anniversary.
  • July 15
  • July 17 - Kaitlyn Robrock succeeds in Russi Taylor as the voice of Minnie Mouse.
  • August 10 - The Walt Disney Company announced its three television studio divisions (ABC Studios, 20th Century Fox Television, and Fox 21 Television Studios) under its Disney Television Studios unit were completely rebranded, respectively, as ABC Signature, 20th Television, and Touchstone Television.[69]
  • November 6 - Disney on Ice resumed performances, starting with Dream Big. Safety tips and measures are also included in this situation.
  • November 13 - Fantasia celebrated its 80th anniversary.
  • November 16 - D23 Fantastic Worlds Celebration Virtual events will run until November 20.[70]
  • November 27 - Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is held until December 30.
  • December 1 - The short-lived revival of Touchstone Television would be folded into 20th Television.[71]
  • December 10 - The Walt Disney Company's Investor Day event was held virtually.
