As a response, the resort issued a temporary refund policy for guests wishing to reschedule or cancel their visits to Shanghai Disneyland Park, for guests wishing to reschedule or cancel their booked stays at the resort's hotels and for guests that have purchased tickets for Beauty and the Beast can reschedule or receive a refund.
- January 26 - In response to the growing outbreak of the deadly coronavirus spreading throughout China, the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort closed its gates temporarily until Summer.[11] As a response, the resort issued a temporary refund policy for guests wishing to reschedule or cancel their visits to Hong Kong Disneyland.
- January 31 - Ariel's Greeting Grotto closed at Tokyo DisneySea. Originally set to close on March 31, it was early in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
- February 3 - In response to the growing outbreak of the deadly coronavirus spreading throughout China, the Disney's Hollywood Hotel and Disney's Explorers Lodge closed its gates temporarily until Summer.

- Lilo's Luau & Fun, Jungle Rhythms and Robo Astro had their final performances at Tokyo Disneyland.
- Fantasmic! had its final performance at Tokyo DisneySea.
- February 29 - As the coronavirus outbreak continues to evolve, The Oriental Land Company has announced a temporary closure of the Tokyo Disney Resort originally until March 15. However, it has extended its closure until early April. This closure applies to both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea and the Ikspiari shopping complex. Guests with reservations for dinner shows, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and Vacation Packages will receive a full refund. The Disney Hotels throughout the Tokyo Disney Resort remain in operations, but with some benefits and various services unavailable to guests staying at the Disney Hotels. The Disney Resort Line are under normal operations.
- March 4 - Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway and Vacation Fun - An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
- March 9 - Announced on their official website, the Shanghai Disney Resort will resume limited operations for the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, Disneytown and the Wishing Star Park. The Shanghai Disneyland Park remains closed.
- March 12 - In response to the coronavirus outbreak spreading throughout Europe, Disneyland Paris has announced that outdoor shows, including Disney Illuminations and Star Wars: A Galactic Celebration have been cancelled. The following shows will continue operations, but will be in limited capacity, including Frozen: A Musical Celebration, Mickey and the Magician and Moteurs... Action! Stunt Show Spectacular. Other locations, including attractions, shops, restaurants and Studio 1 will continue operations with capacity adjusted as necessary. Non-face character greetings and Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show are still operating.
- March 13 - Disney Movie Magic returns at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
- March 14 - As a result of the coronavirus outbreak, the Disneyland Resort, including Disneyland and Disney California Adventure is temporarily closed through March 31, following the guidelines set by the Governor of California to prevent the spread of the virus. The Hotels at the Disneyland Resort will remain open until March 16, to give guests time to make all necessary travel arrangements. The Downtown Disney shopping and entertainment complex remains open. Guests with packages booked through the Walt Disney Travel Company may currently reschedule for a "future date in 2020" without paying a charge fee of $50.
- April 17 - Drawn to Life, the new Cirque Du Soleil and Walt Disney Animation Studios show, will premiere at Disney Springs.
- May 12 - Wonderful World of Animation will have a final performances at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
- May - Minnie's Style Studio, Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast, and The Happy Ride with Baymax will open and Mickey's Magical Music World will premiere at Tokyo Disneyland. Originally opening on April 15, they were all delayed in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
- June 4 - Happy Fair with Baymax event will begin at Tokyo Disneyland until November 1.
- July 17 - Disneyland will celebrate its 65th anniversary.
- July 18 - Avengers Campus California will open at Disney California Adventure, as part of the resort's 65th anniversary celebration.[14]

- After the release of The Woman in the Window, Disney will shut down Fox 2000.
- January 6 - The Disney Channel became an uninterrupted to limited commercial service.
- January 17 - The Walt Disney Company announced that they have dropped the Fox name on both 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight Pictures and were respectively renamed as 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures. Its logos and fanfare were still kept intact.[15]
- February 25 - Robert A. Iger, chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company, has stepped down from his role, and has named Bob Chapek of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, as its new CEO. Iger will assume the role of Executive Chairman and its Board of Directors to ensure a smooth transition through the end of his contract with the company on December 31, 2021.
- March 24 - Disney+ will launch in Austria, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, and Switzerland. For its launch in France, Canal+ would become the exclusive distributor for Disney+.
- March 29 - Disney+ will launch in India, and will be released via the Hotstar streaming service. As part of its launch, it will be relaunched as a co-branded service.
- Summer - Disney+ will launch in Belgium, Portugal, Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Poland.
