"AWOOtiful Mind" is the second segment of the fourteenth episode of Zombies: The Re-Animated Series. It first premiered on October 9, 2024 alongside "The Dark Side of the Moonies" on Disney+ before making its Disney Channel premiere on October 19, 2024.
Synopsis[]
Determined to win Seabrook's quiz bowl, Eliza builds a W-band to help her partner Wynter to focus.
Plot[]
A-Spen and Eliza are in the cafeteria, practising for the upcoming Quizbrook trivia competition. Eliza is determined to win, especially after previously losing to Bucky when Zed failed to answer his question in time. Bucky only won because he had Pacey memorise all the trivia. Just then, Bucky bursts in bragging about his supposed victory at the competition and an upcoming victory party. This gets to Eliza, but she tells A-Spen (more to herself) not to let him get to them. A-Spen and Eliza continue practising for the competition when A-Spen suddenly comes down with spacefluenza, a flu-like disease that comes on suddenly and renders aliens bedridden and unable to participate in trivia contests. With A-Spen unable to compete in the competition, Eliza needs to find a new partner otherwise she cannot qualify. Then out of nowhere, Wynter eagerly volunteers to be her partner. At first, Eliza is unsure, but Wynter proves herself when she correctly answers a trivial question about when Seabrook was founded. However, she rambles about her Great-Grandma Wolfelia's meat-dusted cupcakes before she gives her answer. Eliza is impressed and agrees to take her on as her new partner. But, she recommends improving her timing to answer questions more quickly.
Eliza takes Wynter to the woods, where she explains the rules of Quizbrook. After a contestant buzzes they have five seconds to give their answer. So, Eliza puts Wynter through a training exercise to help her answer quickly. During the first practice, Wynter, after a bit of rambling, correctly answers a question about the Seabrook foodie scene that was recently rocked by a waterfall of spaghetti. However, it took her 5.1 seconds to answer, which does not sit well with Eliza. It becomes clear she is getting nowhere with getting Wynter to answer quicker, due to her getting overly excited. Desperate to beat Bucky, Eliza resorts to creating a W-band that suppresses Wynter's idea neurons, calming and focusing her wolfy mind to keep her answers concise. Though uncertain about the risks, Wynter lets Eliza "band her up". With the W-band on her wrist, Wynter can answer questions quickly and clearly, though she shows signs of struggle against the W-band suppressing her rambling.
The Quizbrook competition begins with Eliza and Wynter against Bucky and Pacey. Their host is Mrs. Computer Teacher. As the contest progesses, both parties answer each question quickly and correctly, especially Wynter. All the while, Bucky is just sitting back waiting to be declared the winner. By the end, both teams are tied with one question remaining. During a short break, Eliza notices the W-band is starting to take a toll on Whynter, who now feels very loopy. This worries her, but her desire to win holds her back from helping Wynter. It is now time for the final question, and Wynter is the first to buzz. However, she struggles to answer and the W-band begins to glitch. Realizing Wynter is in trouble, Eliza forgets about the contest and tries to remove W-band. But its locked to her wrist. So, Eliza turns off her Z-band and uses her zombie strength to rip of the W-band. Wynter returns to normal and tries to give her answer, but her five seconds are up. Pacey awnsers the final question and both he and Bucky are declared the winners. Eliza walks away ashamed of herself for harming Wynter.
Eliza and Wynter meet up again at Bucky's victory party. Wynter apologises for losing the contest, but Eliza quickly assures her that she was the one at fault and that she never should have messed with her "mysterious, magnificent werewolf mind". Wynter is touched and gives her a big crushing hug.
