A Haunting in Venice is a British-American mystery thriller film. It is directed by and stars Kenneth Branagh, written by Michael Green, and based on the 1969 novel Hallowe'en Party by Agatha Christie. The film is a sequel to the 2022 film Death on the Nile. It was released on September 15, 2023.

In post-World War II Venice, Hercule Poirot, now retired, must solve the murder of a guest at a séance he is in attendance for.

Production[]
On March 3, 2022, The Hollywood Reporter reported that a third film in the franchise is in development for 20th Century Studios.[1]
On October 10, 2022, it was announced that Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Michelle Yeoh, and more were cast in the film, with production scheduled to begin on October 31.[2]

Release[]
A Haunting in Venice was released in the United States on September 15, 2023, by 20th Century Studios.[3] The film had its red carpet premiere at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square at the West End of London on September 11 with none of the cast members in attendance due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.[4]

The film was released digitally on October 31, 2023 and will be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and Ultra HD Blu-ray on November 28 by 20th Century Studios Home Entertainment.
Reception[]
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 76% of 260 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 6.5/10. The website's consensus reads, "A darker and spookier spin on Branagh's Poirot, A Haunting in Venice is a decent Halloween snack whose undemanding mystery gets a lift from nifty visuals and an all-star cast."[5] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 63 out of 100 based on 51 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.[6]
