"A Wish Worth Making" is the ending song of Disney's 2023 animated feature film Wish. It was featured during the credits. The song is performed by Julia Michaels, who also wrote the lyrics and composed the music with Benjamin Rice. The song is a pop ballad that encourages the listeners to pursue their wishes and dreams, even when they seem impossible or challenging. It also reflects the theme of the film, which is about the power of wishes and the connection between humans and stars.
The song was written by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice, who also produced the song and played the instruments. Michaels said that she was inspired by the story and the characters of the film, especially Asha, the protagonist, who is a "sharp-witted idealist" who makes a wish that changes her life. Michaels said that she wanted to write a song that captured the "magic and wonder" of wishing on a star, as well as the "courage and determination" of following one's dreams. She also said that she wanted to create a song that would resonate with people of all ages and backgrounds, and that would make them feel hopeful and empowered.
Lyrics[]
Take it from someone like me
When your hopes are in despair
If your desires have strings
Feed them, give them some air
'Cause any wish that's got your heart
On the edge of breaking
Is a wish worth making
Everybody dreams
To be something, someday, somewhere
Even kings and queens
They dream to be free from their royal chairs
But any dream that's got your heart
Even when you're not sleeping
Is a dream worth dreaming
Yeah, we all start as wildlings
Playing in the sun
And we grow up with wild dreams
Just waiting for our day to come
So if hope schemes against time,
Tell them, "Be nice, play fair"
Yeah, they may kick and cry, yeah
Well, just show them they’re better when paired
'Cause if they both can hold your heart
There's no way you're not sowing
A dream that will never stop growing
Yeah, any wish that’s got your heart
On the edge of breaking
Is a wish worth making

Trivia[]
In the film's ending credits, as the song plays, there are several star constellations made by Star that form several characters from almost every past Walt Disney Animation Studios movies. The characters that appear during the song come from films from Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs to Tarzan (the characters after those films starting with Fantasia 2000 appear in the scrolling credits after the end of the song).
The song was originally intended to be sung by Sabino after he had gotten his wish back from Asha, but was cut for unknown reasons.
