Abyss is a Marvel Comics character that appears in the Disney Channel animated series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. She is a former supervillain that inherited her abilities from her family.

Personality[]
Abyss is depicted as being very self-conscious about herself. While she fronts with a angered and determined personality, deep down she is actually reluctant to be a villain and only does what she does to make her family happy. This implies that she suffers pressure from those around her. Upon seeing Lunella and Casey's relationship renewed, she becomes more reserved and open about her feelings.
Physical appearance[]
Abyss is a young woman of short stature and wide hips, she has light brown skin and long black hair that is constantly floating. Her costume is essentially a black unitard that covers her entire body, sans her head, and a blue sash that covers the front of her outfit.
Powers and abilities[]
Abyss can fly, but her main ability is that she can produce a purple, gaseous mist that she blasts from her hands. This gas can make things disappear, though it is implied that she actually teleports it somewhere else as she herself can teleport.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur[]
Abyss first appears in "Moon Girl's Day Off" where it is revealed that she comes from a long line of supervillainesses, all named Abyss, who have, presumably, battled superheroes throughout history. Abyss is the latest to take up the mantle and was forcibly thrown into the lifestyle. Because of this, she has become highly annoyed and slightly disillusioned at the prospect of being a villain. She battles Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, only to be defeated, albeit unintentionally, by slipping on Moon Girl's bubble soap and getting caught in one of her traps. Unaware of the fact that Moon Girl was extremely tired and needed rest, Abyss vowed revenge on her.
Abyss managed to escape S.H.I.E.L.D. and went after Moon Girl, unaware that she was actually Lunella Lafayette's friend Casey Calderon, posing as her. Abyss battled her and Devil Dinosaur and chased them to an Italy-themed street celebration. Eventually, the real Moon Girl showed up and a fight broke out, ending with Abyss once again defeated, via getting frozen in a block of ice. However, Abyss overhears Lunella and Casey talking about their problems and being open. Inspired, Abyss managed to escape her block of ice and called her mother, telling her that she does not want to be a villain and that she needs her help.
Trivia[]
- In the comics, Abyss is actually one in a race of beings called the Abyss. She along with her brother Ex Nihilo, a Gardener, were taught to terraform and transform beings into their perfect selves. They later joined the Avengers, but sacrificed themselves during a mission. It is unknown if this version of Abyss, or her family, share any of her cosmic background like her comic counterpart.
- Abyss is the first villain to truly reform in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur as while Angelo was technically an antagonist in "The Borough Bully", he was influenced by a symbiote that left him after being defeated.
