Adventures of Tron is an action game produced by Mattel, and was released for the Atari 2600 in 1982.[1] It is based on the Disney film, Tron [2] and received fairly positive reviews from critics. [3][4][5][6][7]

Gameplay[]

The game environment consists of four floors, each with flying "bits" as well as enemy MCP attackers: Recognizers, Light Tanks, and Grid Bugs. The objective of the game is to control Tron (you) in a maze of platforms and elevators while trying to intercept the flying bits (intercepting bits on higher floors are awarded higher points). Dodge enemy MCP attackers by jumping, using elevators and hitching a ride on the Solar Sailer. Capturing all seven "bits" will take you to the next level, with added speed and difficulty. You have a total of four lives in play. Make each one count!

Trivia[]

  • The game was originally developed as the Atari 2600 version of Intellevision's Tron: Maze-a-Tron, but the result ended up being so different that it was given a different title.
  • This game as well as the Atari 2600 version of TRON: Deadly Discs were released in a package that included a special joystick controller that resembled the one from the TRON arcade game. It was also re-released by Telegames USA under the title Adventures On GX-12, without the TRON reference and with the game's title screen removed.
  • An Intellivision version of this game was in the process of being developed, but it was never released.
