Syndulla meets with Mon Mothma, the Chancellor of the New Republic, and a group of influential senators in order to gain permission to send Republic forces to Seatos. Despite Mothma's support, the senators refuse to believe that Thrawn and Bridger are alive and deny Syndulla's request. Ahsoka, Wren, and Huyang travel to Seatos, where they discover the Eye of Sion, but are intercepted by a squadron of fighters led by Hati and Marrok. The group escape by flying through a pod of Purgill and land on the surface of Seatos; however, Hati is aware that they are hiding somewhere in the forest. Ahsoka thinks about the implications of reaching Thrawn and Bridger, giving Wren pause since she remains determined to find her friend. Moments later, they are attacked by several of Skoll's forces, but are able to hold them off. Fearing that Skoll will acquire the coordinates to Thrawn's location, Ahsoka and Wren head to his base but are intercepted by Hati and Marrok. Ahsoka kills Marrok and continues on alone, while Wren stays behind to hold off Hati. Ahsoka reaches Skoll, and the two engage in a duel; Ahsoka is able to retrieve the map, but she tosses it aside after it burns her hand. Skoll overpowers and sends Ahsoka plummeting into the ocean as Wren watches in horror. Wren then holds the map at gunpoint, but Skoll manipulates her into handing it over, promising her that she will see Bridger again. After Thrawn's location is revealed, Skoll destroys the map and boards the Eye of Sion with Hati and Wren. A small fleet of New Republic fighters, led by Syndulla, arrives at Seatos and tries to stop the freighter from jumping into hyperspace, but fails to do so. Ahsoka refuses Anakin's teachings, determined to not be held back by the past, leading to another duel between them. Ahsoka wins, accepting that she wasn't part of the reason for Anakin's downfall, and chooses to live. Ahsoka is recovered by Syndulla's crew, but Syndulla is contacted by Mothma, who informs her that New Republic forces are enroute to take her and Ahsoka into custody. Elsbeth, Skoll, Hati, and Wren meet the Great Mothers, Nightsisters allied with Thrawn. As they wait for the Grand Admiral's arrival, Skoll relates to Hati his belief that the fall of the Jedi and the rise of the Empire were part of an inevitable cycle, and his hope that the alliance with Thrawn will break the cycle. Thrawn arrives with his flagship, the Chimaera, and honors Skoll's promise by providing Wren with provisions and the latest intelligence on Bridger's whereabouts. After Wren leaves, Thrawn sends Skoll and Hati to follow her so they can kill both her and Bridger, but later admits to Elsbeth that escaping his exile was his main goal. Surviving an ambush by bandits, Wren encounters the native Noti and follows them to their village, where she reunites with Bridger. The Great Mothers warn Thrawn that a Jedi is coming with the Purrgil.
