Andy, Josh, and Travis are minor characters in the Disney+ series American Born Chinese.
Background[]
Personalities and appearances[]
The three young boys are members of their high school soccer team, the Cranes, and display loyalty and patriotism towards their group and their teammates. While they come off as ignorant and clueless, they are overall good guys who are even shown to be supportive of Jin Wang despite the slight antagonism they may have had.
Travis, the most prominent one and recognized by his combed brown hair, is somewhat cocky and a little bit arrogant. He is first shown to be ignorant towards Jin, but after a physical alteration begins to see him differently. He is quick to forgive however and was willing to start over with him due to their shared interest in soccer. While it is slightly implied that he was disinterested in comics and manga, during Sun Wei-Chen's fight with Niu Mowang, he was shown to be heavily invested and was vocally supportive of Jin.
Andy, the olive-skinned boy with brown hair, is similar to Travis, though not as vocal. He is slightly more laid back, but also displays some slight ignorance. During the final battle, he becomes more accepting of Jin and Wei-Chen.
Josh, the curly haired young man, is new to the soccer team like Jin and is less archaic compared to the other two. At times, he comes off as being slightly nerdier and not as well-adapted as the other two, but is also much nicer to Jin. He too becomes more accepting of him and Wei-Chen later on.
Abilities[]
All three display impressive soccer playing athleticism, though to what extent is not shown.
Trivia[]
- Andy, Josh and Travis may be loosely inspired by the bullies seen in the original graphic novel, though unlike them, the three depicted in the show have some redeeming qualities.
