The relationships of Anne Boonchuy from Amphibia.
Plantar Family[]
- “Well, whatever happens next, one thing's for sure. If we’re together, I know we’ll be all right.”
- ―Anne as she embraces the Planters[src]
Though they had a rocky start, the Planters were the first amphibians to accept Anne. They took her in and over the course of the series treated with her respect and kindness to the point they consider her a part of their family.
Sprig Plantar[]
- “Spranne against the world!”
- ―Anne and Sprig together[src]
Anne & Sprig staring to bond.
Anne and Sprig have a very strong friendship. While she found him slightly gross and detestable at first meeting, they were able to quickly bond with one another due to their similar personalities. They continuously refer to themselves as "Spranne" and even have a catchphrase: "Spranne against the world!" Anne acts as the straight man to Sprig's foil and is always trying to lead him in the right direction, even if that direction is unintentionally off a cliff. She acts like an older sister to him and has a genuine care about him that borders on protective. Anne is aware that Sprig is the first person to stand up for her as he sees her for the kind and generous person that she is. As shown in "Bizarre Bazaar", they have zero romantic attraction with one another for obvious reasons though Anne did seem quite perturbed that Sprig stated that it was because she was "too old" for him. She became very supportive of him courting Ivy Sundew as she felt that the two were meant to be together. In "Hopping Mall", the two of them bond over their mutual feelings of mother figures, or in Sprig's case, lack thereof, in their current lives.
In "True Colors," when King Andrias threatened to drop Sprig thousands of feet in the air if the Calamity Box wasn't returned, Anne and her allies followed the king's demands where Anne begged Andrias to spare Sprig as he was her best friend. However, Andrias remorselessly dropped Sprig to his death just to spite Anne. This left Anne saddened and enraged where her powers from the Calamity Box were activated. She fought Andrias to avenge Sprig and after being overwhelmed with her powers, she was surprised and overjoyed to see Sprig alive after the former was rescued by Marcy, leading them to share an emotional hug.
Polly Plantar[]
- Polly: "I guess it's just kinda hard to spit when you feel gross."
- Anne: "Polly, I'm the gross one. I tried to change someone that's perfect the way they are."
- ―Anne apologizing to Polly
Anne and Polly laughing together.
Anne seemed slightly perturbed by Polly when she first met her. In "Cane Crazy", Polly was reluctant to help her because she barely knew her and only agreed to help after Anne offered her candy from her world, but by the end of the episode Polly admitted she was starting to like Anne. By the events of "Girl Time", Anne desired to become closer to her while trying to enforce what she viewed as girlish onto Polly. By the end of the episode, she began to accept her more masculine and crass behavior and Polly grew closer to Anne. Since then the two get along quite well and have become very close, forming a sisterly bond. Anne is usually seen holding Polly or letting her sit on her head, showing that she trusts her enough and certain episodes have shown that the two share a lot in common in terms of being adventurous. In "Lost in Newtopia", the two try to create a collective name for themselves; first with "Puh-Anne" and then "An-Olly", neither of which the two find very appealing.
Hop Pop Plantar[]
- Anne: "You're always going on about the old days, I'm always going on about back home."
- Hop Pop: "Yeah, deep down we're just a couple of softies, ain't we?"
- ―Anne and Hop Pop bonding

Anne and Hop Pop getting along.
Anne initially had a hard time getting along with Hop Pop due to her more rebellious attitude and his wizened by the book experience. It was not until the events of "Stakeout" that Anne began to see Hop Pop in a new light. He told her that she reminded him of himself when he was younger which made the two grow close. Anne in some ways sees Hop Pop as a surrogate grandfather for her and, despite disobeying him, does come around to looking for his wisdom to help her out. Anne is also prone to making fun of Hop Pop due to his dated beliefs, but also tries to teach him modern ideas and trends. The episode "Quarreler's Pass" implies that the two of them are really only able to get along due to Sprig and Polly's rather immature antics as they become awkward and desperate for some kind of conversation.
Their relationship hit a major snag when Anne learned that Hop Pop lied to her about the Calamity Box. She felt so betrayed that she ran away. However, when Sprig and Polly were endanger, she temporally put her anger aside in order to work together with Hop Pop to save them. After hearing what happened with Sprig and Polly's parents and seeing that he was truly sorry, she forgave Hop Pop and they grew closer than ever before from the experience. Although she forgave him and understands the good side of his actions as she gets that he's trying to protect the ones he loves, Anne is still holding the anger and hurt towards Hop Pop because she took the bad side of his actions to the heart, thinking she isn't the honorary family member that she thought she was, which he notices and tries to make it up to her.
When Hop Pop asked her what it was gonna take in setting things right between them, Anne tells him that she doesn't know but does admit that she wants things between them to go back to the way they were and needs time in order to make that happen. Hearing him say that she's understands her confusion and apologizes to her for putting so much pressure on her then encourages her to take all the time she needs, Anne not only appreciates Hop Pop encouragement and understanding but also accepts his apology for pressuring her. Also, Anne and Hop Pop admit that what happen between them can't be let go right away as they agree to work on their issue before, they can put that behind them. However, overtime, Anne starts trusting Hop Pop again as her relationship with him has been restore.
Humans[]
Anne is very close with her human friends and clearly cares deeply for them even when going through a "rough patch". One of the main story arcs of the series is Anne searching for her friends and then fixing all the complications and removing the negative aspects in their relationships. She obviously loves her parents and hates it someone disrespects them.
Sasha Waybright[]
- Sasha: "Anne what are you doing?!"
- Anne: "What I should've done a long time ago, standing up to you!"
- ―Anne finally standing up to Sasha

Anne and Sasha fighting.
Anne had known Sasha for a long time and it is implied through their conversation that much of Anne's personality and philosophy stems from her influence. Anne was determined to look for her when they were separated. However, it quickly became apparent through her description of her that she was unknowingly being bossed around and manipulated by her. Upon being reunited, Anne began to see Sasha's flaws and was forced to fight her to defend her friends. Despite this, Anne still wanted to reach out to her and help her and was crushed when they were once again separated by their differing allegiances. Anne has made it her mission to find Sasha and fix their relationship.

Anne is outraged to be betrayed by Sasha yet again.
They would meet again in "The Third Temple" where Sasha said she was sorry for everything that went down at Toad Tower and that it was all her fault and wrong of her to put her frog friends in danger and for pushing her around and bullying her. Anne was hesitant to trust her, but during the final trial of the temple Anne put her faith in Sasha telling her while she was a jerk, she also inspired her. After they left the temple Sasha thanks Anne for believing in her and Anne decided to to give Sasha another chance. In truth, Sasha was actually manipulating Anne so she and Grime could gain access to Newtopia for their invasion, but Sasha shows signs of guilt of what will happen to Anne and Marcy if she follows through with the plan.
Anne does seems to be enjoying her time with Sasha as she did help her understand that she still her true self, even though she has changed. After finding out the deception, Anne tells Sasha off and told her that she done helping her. However, when Sasha found out the truth about King Andrias and attempted to warn her, Anne stayed true to her word and didn't believe her. Although, after Andrias revealed his true nature, Anne realized that Sasha was indeed telling her the truth and felt guilty for not listening to her. Also, once they discover that Marcy trapped them in Amphibia on purpose, Anne and Sasha were disgusted that she took them away from their families and lives back home. Filled with regret for giving Sasha the cold shoulder and still cares about her, Anne decides to give her the benefit of the doubt and she in return had no hard feelings with her as she doesn’t blame her for being mad at her for her actions. Anne frees Sasha as they team up against Andrias and his robots. Also, Anne was secretly stunned that Sasha was willing to sacrifice her one chance to go home just so she and Marcy can. Although she had some trust issues with her and was unsure they can be friends again, Anne wants to go back to Amphibia in order to bring Sasha alongside Marcy back home.
Anne and Sasha recoiled as they become co-leaders of the rebellion against Andrias
Upon returning to Amphibia, Anne was happy to see that Sasha was safe and both agreed to work things out between them later on. Also, Anne was surprised that Sasha gave her the role of leader of the resistance. Knowing that Sasha was better of being leader than she is, Anne tried to give her the title back but she refused, even going to the point of accusing her of tricking her again. However, hearing Sasha express deep remorse for everything she has done to her and for ruining their friendship, Anne comes to understand her reasons for making her leader and decided to help regain her confidences. After everything was resolved, Anne agreed with Sasha's idea of being co-leaders of the resistance with her, as they recoiled with each other.
Also, Anne not only decided to forgive Sasha for her past actions but also realized that she had truly changed when she sees that she wouldn't fight for leadership, even when she tried to give it to her. After all the hostilities and turmoil between them ended, Anne and Sasha rebuild their friendship as it was resorted. Anne would even give Sasha advices and encouragement whenever she needed it.
Marcy Wu[]

Anne having fun with Marcy, Sprig and Polly.
Marcy is Anne's second human friend. Unlike with Sasha, where it is implied that their relationship was toxic, Anne's relationship with Marcy is warmer. Anne was super protective of her due to her clumsiness and it is revealed that she was more concerned for her well-being because of Amphibia being filled with multiple dangers. However, Anne was relieved to see her friend doing well. Nevertheless, she still went out of her way to try and protect her, but learns to trust her. After Marcy learns about Anne and Sasha's fight, she and Anne both agree that it's time they made their own decisions and promise to find Sasha, as well as a way home, together. In "Scavenger Hunt", Anne is revealed to be somewhat jealous of Marcy's intelligence, but learns that she in turn is jealous of her social skills, bringing them closer together. Anne enjoys spending time with Marcy as she does open up to her about her problems.
However, in "True Colors" after finding out that Marcy stranded her and Sasha in Amphibia on purpose, Anne was shocked and hurt with her for taking her away from her parents and life. Yet, she knows she never meant to cause any harm to them as she stated while she and her friends made mistakes, what Andrias was doing was evil. During the battle against King Andrias, Marcy managed to make amends by saving Sprig after Andrias dropped him as well as getting Anne and the Plantars to Earth. Also, when Marcy was wounded by Andrias, Anne was horrified, showing that despite being hurt by her actions, she still cared about her. Also, Anne doesn't believe that Marcy is dead and wants to go back to Amphibia to save her and Sasha. However, after returning to Amphibia, Anne was relived to hear from Sasha that Marcy is still alive but shock to find out that Andrias has her. Also, Anne was willing to forgive Marcy for her actions as she blames herself for why she did it was because of how she and Sasha weren't very good friends to her. In addition, Anne wants to make things right with Marcy. Anne was horrified that Marcy was under the control of the Core, which they dubbed themselves as Darcy. After Marcy was rescued by Sasha, Anne happily accepted her apology and recoiled with her.
Mrs. Boonchuy[]
- Sprig: "What's she like?"
- Anne: "My mom? Um, kind... in her own way, but strict too. She wanted me to study more. Thought I goofed off too much. We didn't always see eye to eye. She annoyed me sometimes too. Like, in the kitchen, she'd always sing these goofy Thai love songs, and, man, was her singing bad. Woof! That woman was beyond tone-deaf. You know, the funny thing is, right now I would give anything just to hear her singing."
- ―Anne on her mother
Anne's relationship with her mother is constantly referenced. Much of Anne's family life at home is a mystery, but it is implied that she maintains a pretty healthy relationship with her parents despite the fact that she clearly is rebellious even at home. Her family runs a restaurant and learned the ins and outs of running one from them ("The font on these menus is way too small; Rookie mistake.") Earlier episodes implied that Anne disliked how strict her mother is and how out of sync her tastes are with hers. In "Lost in Newtopia", a flashback reveals that her mother did restrict her from trying certain foods due to her "California stomach" supposedly being incapable of processing such things. In "Hopping Mall", Anne went to great lengths to get her mom a present. She knows a lot about her mom and what she likes; butterflies, tea and antiques. At the end of the episode, Anne finally admits that she misses her and her "tone-deaf" singing and wants nothing more than to be home with her.
After returning home, Anne was happy to see her mom again as she quickly embraces her and surprises her alongside her dad the change she went through in Amphibia. However, Anne finds out that her mother had expectation for her when she discovers dummies of her of various things she wants her to be while running from the Cloak-Bot. Anne tries to explain everything to her mom alongside her dad but she accuses her of making the king that sent the mad robot and assumes that she still that same irresponsibly little girl that she was before she went missing as she asked her when she'll grow up. Hearing this, Anne cracks as she tells her mom that she doesn't know if she'll be the daughter she wants her to be as she tells that she did lie and apologizes for it. Anne also explains that she lied to protect them and the Plantars, which got her to realize the pressure she put on her and how wrong she was to assume that she was immature, allowing the two of them to reconcile.
Though Anne was able to come clean to her parents, she still wanted to keep her mom and dad safe from King Andrias, despite them being willing to help her fight against the evil king. However, after her mom help her and the Plantars evade Mr. X, Anne began to accept her parents' willingness to help her in her time of need and apologizes to them for underestimating them.
In "Froggy Little Christmas," Anne decided to gift her mother with a "Thai Go" parade float she had always dreamed about after she turned down an offer initially, to keep Anne and the Plantars safe and to not draw attention. However, Anne did not want her mom to sacrifice her dream, so she decided to have her family restaurant enter the Christmas parade and upon presenting the gift, her mother hugs her in deep appreciation. Later that night, Anne gifted her with the butterfly pendant she received in Amphibia, which her mom loved very much.
In "Escape to Amphibia," when Terri was able to build a portal, Anne was excited to have finally found an opportunity to return to Amphibia but became distraught when she realized she would be leaving her parents again. This caused Anne to feel very sad and worried she might never see her parents again. After being captured by Mr. X and the FBI, Anne broke down in tears and revealed how scared she was in saying goodbye to her parents. However, her parents cheered her up by reminding Anne how much she's grown up when she was in Amphibia with her mom praising her on what she's accomplished, leading the family to share a heartwarming embrace. Once they escaped the FBI compound, Anne exchanged goodbyes with her parents who reassured her that they would see each other again and that they love her before Anne returned to Amphibia with the Plantars.
Mr. Boonchuy[]
Not much is known about Anne's relationship with her father but they are very close as shown when she returned home. Anne surprised her dad alongside her mom about how much she has grown while she was away in Amphibia. Also, Anne seems to get along better with her dad then her mother. When the Cloak-Bot threaten to hurt them, Anne tries to explain everything with her dad wanting to hear her out, which shows that he trusts her and knows that his daughter had a very good reasons for not saying anything sooner, while her mother assumes that she still that same immature little girl that she was before she disappeared. Anne felt that she'll never be the daughter that her dad alongside her mom want her to be as she does confess that she did lie but only did it to protect them and her frog family, which he understands as he gets that his daughter was just looking out for them.
Though Anne was able to come clean to her parents, she still wanted to keep her dad and mom safe from King Andrias, despite them being willing to help her fight against the evil king. However, after her dad help her and the Plantars evade Mr. X, Anne began to accept her parents' willingness to help her in her time of need and apologizes to them for underestimating them.
In "Froggy Little Christmas," both Anne and her dad were excited when they received an offer to have their restaurant join the Christmas parade. However, when Anne's mom declined the offer due to wanting to have the Plantars keep a low profile, her dad agreed and also wanted Anne to stay safe from King Andrias. Despite this, Anne was willingly to gift her parents a parade float in order to make them happy and upon presenting their gift, her dad greatly appreciated the gift, much like his wife did.
However, her parents cheered her up by reminding Anne how much she's grown up when she was in Amphibia with her dad assuring her that he and her mom will always be with her wherever she goes, leading the family to share a heartwarming embrace. Once they escaped the FBI compound, Anne exchanged goodbyes with her parents who reassured her that they would see each other again and that they love her before Anne returned to Amphibia with the Plantars.
Amphibia Citizens[]

One of the major arcs in the series is Anne's relationship with the town of Wartwood. At first everyone was either afraid of or despised her for being different. This did not stop her from trying to reach out or show friendliness towards everyone. By "Girl Time", everyone was at least comfortable with her presence to the point that she was treated to their commodities. In "Toad Tax", Anne was feeling down as everyone walked all over her. This did not stop her from defending them from the Toads who were ransacking their town when their taxes were not paid. Since then, their animosity disappeared because everyone in Wartwood now knows she is a friend and has become much more genial to Anne to the point that they look to her for protection such as in "Snow Day" and she was rewarded by the town in "Anne of the Year".
In season two, her relationship expands to people outside Wartwood, most notably Newtopia. In "Scavenger Hunt", Anne was able to easily make friends with random strangers and offer input on their personal lives while also openly accept their advice.

- ―Anne and Wally becoming friends

Anne and Wally become good friends.
Wally was the first Amphibian to see Anne; he mistook her for a monster a rally the citizens of Wartwood to go after her. After the misunderstanding was cleared up he still had a hard time accepting her until in "Toad Tax" when she showed him a small act of kindness, he finally saw her as a person, since then he has been much nicer and more respectful towards the human girl. Anne kept her distance from One-Eyed Wally almost by instinct. She found him annoying and unpleasant to be around. However, in "Wally and Anne", Anne began to see that he was a person deep inside with feelings and soon begin to find his happy-go-lucky attitude inspiring as it meant not caring about what others think. Anne learned that Wally actually comes from a wealthy family and saw how is double life was making him miserable she helped him by making his father see who really is and accepting him, which Wally is really grateful to her for.

While only having limited interaction through Sprig, Anne was put off by Maddie's behavior just like everyone else. She helped Sprig break up with her and showed no remorse for her actions. After getting cursed and help from Maddie, she became more comfortable around her.
Stumpy[]
- Stumpy: "I've never seen this place so packed. What ― What's this weird feeling in me chest?"
- Anne: "That is called hope. I think we might actually pull this off, dude."
- ―Anne giving Stumpy hope
Knowing how hard it is to run a restaurant from her parents she went through great lengths to help his restaurant get a good review. After she turned his restaurant into a success, Stumpy thanks Anne for helping him with his diner by telling her that her parents would be proud.
Ivy Sundew[]
Ivy was one of the first Wartwood citizens to be friendly to the human girl. Anne could see the chemistry between her and Sprig right away and is totally supportive of them being together.
Mrs. Croaker[]
- “That woman is everything I want to be"”
- ―Anne taking about Mrs. Croaker[src]
Like the rest of the Wartwood citizens it took awhile for her to get use to Anne. After the human girl showed her kindness in "Toad Tax", Mrs. Croaker started being friendlier towards her. Anne likes her feistiness and craftiness.
Toads[]
Mayor Toadstool[]
- Anne: "Marcy meet Mayor Toadstool, he like if the Monopoly Man had a baby with piece of fried chicken"
- Mayor Toadstool: "That better be a compliment Boonchuy"
- ―Anne and Mayor Toadstool's love-hate relationship
Mayor Toadstool took the longest of the Wartwood citizens to respect Anne. She was clearly disgusted by his greed and selfishness. However, in "Anne of the Year" he admitted even he was impressed by all she has done in Wartwood and that she deserved the frog of the year award. Since then, Toadstool started to like Anne where he even asked for help in convincing Jacinda to not promote as the head of Toad Tower as he had grown to love the town of Wartwood.
Bog, Fens & Mire[]
The trio of toads took a liking to Anne due to her fierceness and offered to deputize her, but they became enemies when Anne decided to protect Wartwood from them after seeing their cruelty towards the citizens when believing they did not pay their taxes.

The fierce toad warrior knew about her beforehand trough Sasha. In "Reunion", he became her enemy when he captured the citizens of Wartwood, tried to execute Hop Pop and made her fight Sasha. When Anne wins the duel against Sasha and ask to be allowed to leave with Hop Hop and the other frogs of Wartwood, Grime goes back on word attempting to kill Hop Pop anyways. Even though Tritonio Espada is a conman who tricked her, Sprig and Polly into helping him rob a train, he still made her realize teachers were tough on her because they saw her potential wanted her to succeed; this in turn inspired Anne to give teachers a chance and promised to be nicer to her teachers when she got home.
Lady Olivia[]
Due to her friendship with Marcy, Oliva is very cordial with Anne.
King Andrias[]
- “She punched him in the face.”
- ―Sprig[src]

Anne begs the monarch of Amphibia to spare her best friend's life
Anne met the ruler of Amphibia though Marcy in hopes he could help her get home. While Andrias was very cordial with Anne, he was actually to be planning something behind her back. When King Andrias revealed his true nature by taking the Calamity Box, Anne did not hesitate in trying to stop him and even when he revealed Marcy sent her to Amphibia on purpose, Anne still resolved to fight him. When Andrias threatened to drop Sprig to his death if the Calamity Box wasn't returned to him, Anne and her allies did his bidding where Anne begged Andrias to spare Sprig, but he went against his word and dropped Sprig to his death just to spite Anne. Believing Sprig to be dead, an enraged Anne activated her powers from the Calamity Box which shocked Andrias. Anne began fighting Andrias in an attempt to avenge Sprig, but soon became exhausted from her newfound powers. Andrias then attempted to kill Anne, but she and the Plantar family managed to escape to Earth.
Andrias can be seen as an evil counterpart of Anne; they share blue as a color motif and they both have casual fun loving charismatic personas while being deeply affected by betrayal though Anne did not let the hurt of her friends' immoral actions hurt her, unlike Andrias. As a result, Andrias became an arch-nemesis to Anne for his attempted murder on Sprig, his manipulation over her and Marcy, and impaling Marcy right in front of her with his laser sword. After escaping to Earth, Anne discovered she was being hunted down by the evil king as he had sent a robotic assassin to kill her as he saw her as a threat to his plans. Yet, Anne managed to survive the robots attacks until destroying it for good. Later, Andrias tried to kill Anne himself by using a robotic moth drone where he used it to control a giant Santa Claus robot, but failed when Anne and the Plantars destroyed the robot. Despite his failure, Andrias refused to give up on killing Anne.
