Anthony Ramos Martinez is an American actor and singer-songwriter. He is best known for his various film roles, such as portraying Manny Ortega in the drama film Monsters and Men, Ramon in the musical romantic drama film A Star Is Born (both released in 2018), Anthony Martinez in the 2019 monster film Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Usnavi de la Vega in the 2021 musical drama adaptation of In the Heights, and Noah Diaz in the 2023 sci-fi prequel Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. He also voiced King Trollex and Mr. Piranha in DreamWorks' Trolls World Tour and The Bad Guys (respectively). Additionally, he will voice the titular character of the untitled animated film adaptation of Bob the Builder.
For Disney, he voiced Tito the Magical Bandit in Elena of Avalor and portrayed John Laurens/Philip Hamilton in the 2020 musical drama film Hamilton, in which the character's dual roles originated from the Broadway stage musical. He will also play Parker Robbins/The Hood in the Marvel/Disney+ series Ironheart.
Born in New York City, Ramos is of Puerto Rican descent. He grew up in the Bushwick, Brooklyn neighborhood, where he lived with his mother, older brother, and younger sister. He attended Halsey Junior High School, where he sang Motown songs at school assemblies in a student group called the Halsey Trio. He graduated at New Utrecht High School in 2009, where his ambitions centered around baseball, including plans to play NCAA Division III college baseball, followed by a coaching career. After high school, Ramos attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, a conservatory for the performing arts. He graduated from its musical theatre program in 2011.
