Apocalypto, also known as Mel Gibson's Apocalypto, is a 2006 historical epic, directed by Mel Gibson and co-written by Gibson and Farhad Safinia. The film follows a Mesoamerican warrior as he goes on a journey to save himself and his family from an invading force. The characters speak in the Yucatec Mayan language throughout the film.
Synopsis[]
In 1517 Yucatán, a Mesoamerican warrior named Jaguar Paw is captured along with the rest of his tribe by the much larger, yet close to destruction, Mayan nation. As he attempts to avoid death, he must escape and rescue his pregnant wife and son who are trapped in a well.

Trivia[]
- When the movie first played in theaters, during the scene where Jaguar Paw lands in a mass grave, for a split second, a single frame of an actor dressed as Waldo (Wally) from Where's Waldo? (Where's Wally?) appears. The frame was removed from the DVD release, but was reinstated in the Blu-Ray release.
