Ariel's Playground is located indoors inside the Mermaid Lagoon area of Tokyo DisneySea and features props and decorations inspired by The Little Mermaid franchise. The areas featured in the play area include:
Kelp Forest: An area themed after a kelp forest featuring fish decorated in it.
Fishermen's Nets: Themed after fishing nets, it is the area where guests can see another view of the Kelp Forest area to which the nets decorated on the area are used as bridges to make the area look like a playground.
Ariel's Grotto: Based on the area of the same name, guests can explore the secret grotto featuring a large collection of objects which Ariel has collected such as a statue of Prince Eric and various objects which Ariel has collected for her grotto. In addition to seeing these collections, guests can also see portraits of some of his friends whom Eric met on his ship such as Chef Louis, Grimsby, and Max (Eric's pet sheepdog).
Galleon Graveyard: A sunken ship-themed area where guests can explore of what it is like to imagine if they were in an actual sunken ship.
Cave of Shadows: A cave area which is accessed by following a path of jellyfish into a narrow area. As its name implies, the only things visible which guests see inside the cave are shadows.
Sea Dragon: Modeled after Ursula's Lair, this area is where guests can walk around the skeleton of a serpent-like creature to imagine if they are in the area which Ariel visited.
Ursula's Dungeon: This area showcases a mirror which Ursula used inside her lair. Guests are also able to press the buttons to interact with the mirror which upon doing so, an image of Ursula appears on the mirror and briefly talks to the guests, mistaking them for Ariel who visited her lair.
Starfish Playpen: A small playpen area located next to the Mermaid Sea Spray area.
Mermaid Sea Spray: A water spray area where guests can play around of statues of a sea turtle, a clam, and an orca, which spray water at guests for them to interact with.
