As Told by Emoji is a series of short, animated adaptations of various Disney properties told through the use of stylized emoticons. The shorts are produced by Disney Interactive Studios in-association with Creative Capers Entertainment.
Premise
As mentioned above, the series takes popular and recognizable Disney features and reimagines the characters, as well as various scenes from the film, such as emoticons and other features, showcasing the short within the confines of a mobile phone.

On YouTube, there have been compilations of these shorts made into seasons. There have been six seasons as of late. The first season features Frozen, Tangled, Aladdin, Frozen Fever, and Cinderella. The second season features The Force Awakens, Finding Nemo, Zootopia, Finding Dory, Beauty and the Beast, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., The Jungle Book, Ratatouille, Hercules, Up, Mulan, The Princess and the Frog, Hocus Pocus, Peter Pan (film), Frozen II, WALL-E (film), Onward, and Incredibles 2 are the only shorts that are not currently released on YouTube and are only accessible on Disney+ via extras related to their corresponding films.

- The time displayed at the top of the phone references the day the original source was released (ie. the Frozen entry said 11:22 which refers to November 22).
- The The Lion King installment is the only one that does not have the time displayed.
- Frozen, Tangled, Aladdin, Frozen Fever and Cinderella were produced by Oh My Disney and had a different animation than the rest of the shorts.
- The Dumbo installment is the only one that does not have sound effects.
- Some characters were absent in the shorts:
- The Duke of Weaselton does not appear in the Frozen installment.
- The Tank Gang, Phillip, Darla, Phil, Bob, and Ted do not appear in the Finding Nemo installment, and Nemo's subplot is completely omitted. However, Gill is the only member of the Tank Gang to appear in this installment.
- Zazu and the Hyenas do not appear in the The Lion King installment. However, Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed are the only Hyenas to appear in this installment.
- Si and Am, Tony and Joe do not appear in the Lady and the Tramp installment.
- The crows and Prissy do not appear in the Dumbo installment.
- Mr. Potato Head, Billy, Goat, Gruff, Andy's Other Toys, Mrs. Davis, The Mutant Toys, Hannah, and Scud do not appear in the Toy Story installment, and RC got Silhouetted. However, Babyface, Legs, and Rollerbob are only members of the Mutant Toys to appear in this installment.
- The Vultures, save for Buzzie, do not appear in the The Jungle Book installment.
- M-O, PR-T, D-FIB, BURN-E, and other Robots do not appear in the WALL-E installment.
- The Indians, save for Tiger Lily, do not appear in the Peter Pan installment.
- None of the second-rated supers, with the exception of Voyd and Screech appear in the Incredibles 2 installment.
- Needleman and Smitty do not appear in the Monsters, Inc. installment.
- When The Nightmare Before Christmas installment was released on Disney+ during the scene where Jack Skellington is exploring Christmas Town, the "What's This?" score was omitted in the Disney+ release and was replaced by a generic score, unlike the one released on YouTube which features the aforementioned score.
- Dumbo is currently the last installment released to YouTube, as all following installments were released exclusively on Disney+.
- Another similarly titled series As Told by LEGO, has also been released online by Disney, in-collaboration with The LEGO Group.
- Although most shorts are produced by both Disney and Creative Capers, Kingdom Hearts 3 was the only short to have had both of its art and animation entirely only done by Creative Capers.
