Australia, officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a country in the Southern Hemisphere comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania, and numerous smaller islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is the world's sixth-largest country by total area. Neighboring countries include Indonesia, East Timor, and Papua New Guinea to the north; the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia to the northeast; and New Zealand to the southeast.
Operating from 1988-2006 was Walt Disney Animation Australia working on several episodes of several television series as well as several direct-to-video/DVD movies.
The Australian edition of the Disney Channel was launched on June 8, 1996.
Starting in December 2018, a dozen Disney shows and movies (including Marvel and Lucasfilm), have been streaming on Australian streaming company Stan. In November 2019, many shows released with the Disney, Marvel or Lucassfilm were taken down, Disney movies released under the Touchstone Pictures banner still remain.
Star Wars Episode II and Star Wars Episode III were filmed there.
In Lost, Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 was heading from Sydney to Los Angeles but crashed along the way.
When Donald Trump tried to brand the Disney owned ABC as "fake news", he accidentally branded the Australian Broadcasting Corporation as "fake news".[1]
Nine Network Australia produced their own version of the Disney-made America's Funniest Home Videos, entitled "Australia's Funniest Home Videos".
