“Welcome, explorers, to Avalonia. A modest civilization trapped behind an impassable ring of never-ending mountains, whose citizens strive to do their best despite their humble means. Believing the key to their future lies beyond these mountains, many have tried to get past them. All have failed. But hope has arrived, as Avalonia's greatest explorers, the Clades, have now set their sights on pulling off the impossible. Meet Jaeger Clade!”
Avalonia is the main setting of the movie Strange World. Avalonia is home to the famous explorer family known as the Clades. When one of the Clades, Searcher, discovers Pando, a plant that bears a fruit that generates electricity, Avalonia uses Pando to power all the machines in the kingdom, with Searcher abandoning the life of an explorer and becoming a Pando farmer. Avalonia is also a huge living creature resembling a giant turtle.
The Wind Jungle - The lung section of the giant turtle that shows a red and magenta place full of trees that breathes in and out.[1]
The Burning Sea - The stomach part of the creature and inhabited by Poot Pickles.
The Liver - A part of the creature's inners that has two canyons above and below the Venture in between.[2]
The Heart - The main core of the creature and the world of Avalonia.
Crystal Caves - A part of the creature's inners that leads them outside to the vast endless ocean.
Trivia[]
Much like Ego in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avalonia is a "living kingdom", a turtle, made of earth, as big as a continent whose innards house the entire kingdom.
The concept of the entirety of the film occurring on and inside a giant turtle is a unique take of the "World Turtle" concept used in various Asian and Indigenous American mythology.
Avalonia also takes inspiration of the giant lion turtles from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.
Avalonia is similar to the Boiling Isles from The Owl House, expect it is on a living creature and the Boiling Isles is located on a Titan's corpse.
Also like the Boiling Isles, there seems to be no homophobia or transphobia as there are characters shown to be very accepting of LGBTQ individuals.
