On June 13, 2023, Disney pushed back the film's release date to May 1, 2026, taking over the release date of Avengers: Secret Wars. This came in line during the writers strike in America,[1] in addition to recent abuse & harassment allegations against Jonathan Majors. By December 18, Marvel Studios officially cut ties after he was convicted of assault and harassment charges.[14]
In June 2024, Shawn Levy was in talks on to direct the film, but had yet made a decision whether to accept the gig. Filming is scheduled to begin in early 2025, with over 60 MCU characters expected to appear.[17] A month later, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo were in early talks to direct the film.[18] On July 27, 2024, it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr. had been cast as the main antagonist, Doctor Doom.[19] Two days later, it was revealed that Alan Silvestri had been hired to compose the score for the film.[20] On July 30, 2024, it was reported that filming would begin in London, during the second quarter of 2025.[21]
