Avengers 5 is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name, and a sequel to Avengers: Endgame, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the second season of Loki. It is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026, and will be the forty-second film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fifth film of Phase Six. It will be produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

On July 22, 2022, it was reported that Marvel Studios had filed trademarks for four movies, which included Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and its follow-up Avengers: Secret Wars.[5] The project was officially announced a day later during Marvel Studios' panel at San Diego Comic-Con.[6]
On July 26, 2022, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Destin Daniel Cretton was set to direct the film.[7]
On September 14, 2022, Deadline reported that Jeff Loveness was hired to write the screenplay for the film, after working on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.[8]
On November 10, 2022, in an interview with Comicbook.com, Simu Liu expressed excitement to be working with Cretton again for the film.[2]
On February 20, 2023, it was announced that Tom Holland would reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the film.[4]
On February 24, 2023, in an interview with Comicbook.com, Jeff Loveness confirmed that Tenoch Huerta would return as Namor in the film.[3]
On June 13, 2023, Disney announced they had pushed back the films release date to May 1, 2026, taking over the release date of Avengers: Secret Wars. This comes in line of the ongoing writers strike in America,[1] in addition to recent abuse & harassment allegations against Jonathan Majors.
On August 1, 2023, it was reported that the working title of the film was "Apple Pie 1".[9]
On November 15, 2023, Deadline reported that Destin Daniel Cretton was no longer attached to the film as the director, though he remains as the director on Shang-Chi 2 and Wonder Man.[10]
On November 27, 2023, Deadline reported that Michael Waldron was set to write the screenplay for the film.[11]
On December 18, 2023, EW reported that Marvel Studios officially cut ties with Jonathan Majors, after he was convicted of assault and harassment charges.[12] The Hollywood Reporter reported the film's working title, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, was now being referred to as Avengers 5.[13]

- This is the first confirmed reappearance of Tom Holland as Spider-Man since 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.
- This film comes out 7 years after Avengers 4, Avengers: Endgame, which was the same number of years between the first Avengers film and Avengers: Endgame.
