Avery Lawrence Schreiber was an American comedian and actor, who was a veteran of stage, television, and film.
His Disney roles included Robot Guard in the DuckTales episode "Duck to the Future", Geppetto in the 1978 TV movie Christmas at Walt Disney World, and as a guest star on The Muppet Show in episode 116.
Schreiber was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Minnie (née Shear) and George Schreiber. He started his career in Chicago at the Goodman Theatre. He joined The Second City and later teamed with Jack Burns to form the comedy team of Burns and Schreiber. They recorded several comedy albums and appeared on numerous television shows. He became known for his trademark bushy handlebar moustache, curly hair, and comedic reactions.
Schreiber appeared several movies such as The Monitors, The Harlem Globetrotters Popcorn Machine, The Concorde ... Airport '79, Silent Scream, Jimmy the Kid, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, and The Lay of the Land. His television credits include My Mother the Car, Love, American Style, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, That Girl, Chico and the Man, The Rockford Files, The Love Boat, The Dukes of Hazzard, Fantasy Island, Saved by the Bell, and Days of Our Lives. Also lending his voice to animated shows, Schreiber appeared in The Smurfs, Heathcliff, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, The Flintstone Kids, Animaniacs and features such as The Pound Puppies and Top Cat and the Beverly Hills Cats. He is also remembered for his many Doritos commercials during the 1970s and 1980s.
He continued performing as well as teaching improvisational theater technique, including master classes The Second City in Chicago and Los Angeles, up until his death in 2002 from a heart attack.
