"Back in the Groove" is the first segment of the forty-fourth episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on November 12, 2016 alongside "Saving Lumaro", and is the first segment of the fourteenth episode in the second season.
Plot[]
In Miles's room, Miles and Loretta play a tune which Bootjet Groovestar digs. By that, Miles tells M.E.R.C. that he likes his and Loretta's new song. Loretta says that the song is about a time the Stellosphere got swallowed by a sporjot, and Miles says that bouncing around in its tummy inspired the beat. Bootjet mentions that inspiration is what he's been running low on, and he also had not been on an adventure or wrote a song for a long time. Miles tells him that a new adventure will inspire him, and he should come along with them sometime. Bootjet says that that is an idea that has legs. By that, Miles says that Bootjet likes the idea of going on adventures.
Sometime later, Stella tells Phoebe and Leo that there is an approaching starship requesting permission to dock. Bootjet then shows up, and Phoebe asks him to come in. In the hangar, the Callistos welcome in Bootjet, who wants to be a Callisto for the day, thanks to some inspiration from Miles. Phoebe appreciates it, since the Callistos could always have a pair of hands, or in Bootjet's case, two pairs of hands. Bootjet wonders what the adventure will be, and Phoebe, Leo, and Loretta tell what they were doing before Bootjet arrived. Stella then informs them of a call from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority.
Once on the bridge, the Callistos and Bootjet are assigned a new mission by Admirals Watson and Crick: yesterday, the Admirals sent a mapping drone to Planet Panthera, but when the drone entered its atmosphere, it broke into four pieces. Crick says it it like the "orange" he is holding: first it's together, now it's apart. Watson thinks the orange looks like a lemon. Crick tastes it, and finds out that the orange is very lemony. The Callistos accept the mission, and the Admirals also greet Bootjet. After the transmission ends, Bootjet agrees to help out on the mission, and the Callistos set course for Panthera.
Once the Callistos and Bootjet are on the planet, Phoebe says that two pieces of the drone landed on one side, while the other two landed on the other. Phoebe, Leo, and Loretta will use their hoverbikes to get to one side while Miles, M.E.R.C., and Bootjet take the other. Bootjet also brought his guitar-o-tronic in case he gets an idea for a new song. However, the tune he plays sounds awful. M.E.R.C. then finds one piece of the drone. Since the piece is too heavy to carry, Miles decides to use a cargo bubble and pick it up in the Star Jetter later. Miles then calls Leo, Phoebe, and Loretta, who have also found a piece of the drone and used a cargo bubble. Bootjet is enjoying the mission, and is starting to get an idea for a new song when a branch falls. Miles assumes that someone or something out there likes the music. Afterwards, a tiger steals Bootjet's guitar, but Bootjet brings it back with its auto-return.
Eventually, Miles sees the last piece of the drone and is about to launch another cargo bubble when the tiger steals the piece. Miles, M.E.R.C., and Bootjet see that the tiger is going into a cave. Miles then calls Loretta, who finds out that that creature is a Tigrex, who lives on this planet. They are very curious and like to collect things they find in the forest, which makes them similar to Miles: a junk collector. Tigrexes are harmless as long as no one goes in its cave, which is where a Tigrex keeps the treasures it finds. It also becomes upset if anyone comes near them.
Miles, M.E.R.C., and Bootjet are looking in the cave when the Tigrex scares them away. Bootjet realizes he had let the Tigrex have is guitar-o-tronic, he wouldn't have swiped the drone piece, and thinks that it is his fault. Miles tells him that this is how all of the Callistos' adventures go: before they save the day, something always goes wrong. Bootjet says that you got to have grits to go with the gravy. By that, he says that sometimes you need to get through the hard times before you get to the good times. This idea could be a part of his song, which gives Miles an idea: since the sound of the guitar-o-tronic is what attracted the Tigrex, Bootjet's new song will lure him out of his cave while Miles and M.E.R.C. get the drone piece. Miles will be safe as long as he is with M.E.R.C.
As Bootjet plays his song, Miles and M.E.R.C. enter the cave, and eventually find the piece. While dragging it, they accidentally drop it. The Tigrex almost notices, but Bootjet tells him to focus on the song. Miles and M.E.R.C. then drag the piece out of the cave and send it up with a cargo bubble. This angers the Tigrex, and after Miles, Bootjet, and M.E.R.C. leave, he feels sad. Bootjet then gives him a guitar-o-tronic, and the Tigrex is enjoying the instrument. Bootjet says that since he, Miles, and M.E.R.C. got something from the Tigrex, they should give the Tigrex something back. By the way, Bootjet has lots more guitar-o-tronics aboard his starship. The Callistos then meet up at the Star Jetter with all of the drone pieces there.
With the mission accomplished, Bootjet says that hanging with the Callistos has inspired a new song, and not only did it get him out of a jam, it got him into a groove. He then announces that the Stellosphere is about to become the Funkosphere. In the observatory, the Callistos dance while Bootjet performs his song. Bootjet thanks Miles for inviting him on an adventure, as it fired up his funk. Miles says that Bootjet had a blastastic time being a Callisto. The song continues, and the Tigrex on Planet Panthera is still enjoying the guitar-o-tronic given to him.
