"Bat Hair Day" is the second segment of the twenty-eighth episode of Vampirina. It premiered on February 1, 2019 alongside "Franken-Wedding", and is the second segment of the third episode in the second season.
Synopsis[]
Gregoria’s sculpture of the Hauntley family is almost ruined when Vee wakes up with a bat hair day.
Plot[]
Vampirina wakes up and Demi states that Gregoria must be jumping rope in the attic when Gregoria appears. Demi assumes that the only other thing making that noise is a delivery from the Ogre Express. Vampirina quickly heads outside to see the ogre give the delivery for Vampirina, who signs it. Demi wonders what it is when Oxana and Boris head out and wonder what they just heard. Vampirina states that it's for them, and Gregoria and Demi open it to find an actual rock for sculpting. Vampirina entered Gregoria in Transylvania's annual Spooky Sculpting Contest, although Gregoria hasn't sculpted in years. Oxana and Boris like the idea. Gregoria used to love sculpting, but she rejects the offer. Since she finished second the last time, her sculptures will never be good enough to win first place, so she hasn't sculpted since. When Vampirina brings out a chisel, this changes Gregoria's mind and decides to make one sculpture.
Gregoria decides to sculpt the Hauntleys. Later, Gregoria tells Oxana to trim Penelope's leaves, Boris to take Wolfie to a bath, and Chef Remy Bones to polish his rib cage. Gregoria states that the Hauntleys will sculpt first thing in the morning when the light's best. To win the Spooky Sculpt, the sculpture needs to be perfect, which means everyone in the sculpture has to look their best. Gregoria tells Vampirina to go to bed, as she needs to be perfect for tomorrow.
The next day when Vampirina wakes up, she does so with a bat hair day. She is scared about it and later shows it to Poppy and Bridget, who state that it's really bad. Since Gregoria needs Vampirina to look perfect, her hair needs to be fixed, or the sculpture will be ruined and Gregoria will never make art again. Poppy and Bridget try to fix it to no avail. They use monster spray, but it makes the hair worse, as well. Poppy then has an idea of covering the hair with a hat, but it also doesn't work. Demi enters the room and sees the hair. He tries to get rid of it to no avail while Vampirina tells it to him.
Later, Demi reads through a spell book and recites the ghoulish grooming spell to give new life to the messy hair, but it makes the hair come to life. This makes Vampirina dance, and Poppy assumes that vampire hair is very different than human's. Gregoria is seeing it, and questions what Demi did. Demi chases Vampirina, who heads outside. Demi recites a different spell, one that makes the hair grow instead of slow. Oxana will search for the spell while the others try to hold Vampirina's hair still. Vampirina apologizes, as everything was supposed to be perfect for the Hauntleys today. Gregoria then sculpts the sculpture of the Hauntleys, as she was never going to miss a chance to catch how silly they all look.
Gregoria thanks Vampirina for getting her sculpting again. Although Gregoria wanted the sculpture to be perfect, she realized she was trying too hard to make the Hauntleys perfect when they already are. She loves her sculpture and the family just the way they are, so she will enter the contest. Vampirina states that although the Hauntleys are imperfect, they will stay just the way they are. Afterwards, Oxana recites the spell to turn Vampirina's hair back to normal. The spell was on the first page the entire time. It is then revealed that Gregoria won first place, as the sculpture of the family was spookily real. While sculpting a sculpture of herself, Gregoria states that she sculpts because she loves it.
