Batuu is a planet located in the Outer Rim of the galaxy. It is a temperate world which is orbited by three moons named Ubaat I, Ubaat II and Ubaat III. The planet is considered to be the last stop world between the Unknown Regions and the Wild Space.
- Black Spire Outpost: The largest settlement on Batuu is the Black Spire Outpost, named after the petrified black trees which towered over the colony. Before the invention of hyperspace travel Batuu was a frequent stop for travellers but after the invention of hyperspace, it lost its mainstream travel. Due to this, the Black Spire would become a hotspot for smugglers, pirates, bounty-hunters and rogue traders. Around the time of 34 ABY, the Black Spire would become occupied by the First Order due to it harbouring a large amount of members of the Resistance in ancient ruins found on the planet's Surabat River Valley. The Black Spire held a fair amount of violent conflicts between the Resistance and First Order, as Supreme Leader Kylo Ren traveled to the planet to hunt the Jedi Rey.
During the time that Galaxy's Edge was still under construction, the ending scene of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue was replaced with C-3PO landing the speeder in the Black Spire and making a comment on it.
The Black Spire Outpost is the setting of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and its respective attractions.
Live Stunt Show
During a live stunt show at the parks, set sometime after the events of the Battle of Crait, Vi Moradi is on Batuu during a mission to steal a datacard from the First Order. Vi infiltrates a shuttle of the organization and finds the datacard. She is then confronted by Kylo Ren who came to Batuu to look for Rey, as the Resistance had set a temporary base on the planet while recovering from their losses on Crait. Vi is then saved by Rey and manages to escape safely.
- In Disneyland, the rockwork of the Black Spire Outpost was made to hide the peak of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad that can be seen from Galaxy's Edge.
