"BeBe" is the nineteenth episode of the Disney+ animated series The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. It premiered on February 1, 2023 on Disney+, aired on April 1, 2023 on Disney Channel, and is the ninth episode in the second season.

Plot[]

While Oscar faces legal ramifications order over his factory, Penny is tasked with looking after BeBe and CeCe while hanging out with her friends at the museum. BeBe gets lost and climbs atop a plane and shows no fear when he falls. When Penny brings the twins home, BeBe does the same thing again, much to Oscar and Trudy's shock and concern. Dr. Payne believes that something is off with BeBe and sends them to Dr. Lord who tells them that BeBe is on the Autism Spectrum. She offers to have him attend her school, but Oscar refuses on the grounds that he believes nothing is wrong with him. Penny opens up to Dr. Lord as she believes that this will bounce back on her and stress her out, which she agrees. Oscar is forced to take the twins to work with him where he fails the inspection and has his factory shut down for good. He finally relents in letting BeBe go to the special school and accepts that his son is different. Just as they leave, BeBe and his new friends are revealed to have superpowers.

Trivia[]

  • The episode reveals BeBe to be autistic. This was planned as early as the first season. It should be noted that the voice of BeBe, Aiden Dodson, is also on the spectrum.[1]
  • The sign for the "Hall of Heroes" features iconic elements from Marvel Comics within its letters (Captain America's shield, Black Panther's claws, Mjölnir, Hawkeye's bow and arrow, and the Tesseract). Inside the exhibit, Zoey and Myron attempt to imitate Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson's upside-down kiss from the 2002 Spider-Man film, only to be interrupted by Penny, who is using a glider, to which Myron calls her "a real hobgoblin", a reference to the Spider-Man villain known as "The Hobgoblin".
  • A flashback from "Adventures in Bebe Sitting" is seen, but with Tabasco's lines redubbed by Bresha Webb and a cover version of "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" is used (the original was used in the original version).
  • It is implied that Michael has started dating Sebastian (aka Makeup Boy).
  • Dr. Payne refers to BeBe as "a baby Black Adam", referring to the DC supervillain of the same name.
  • Igloo, the mall cop claiming to be a detective, returns, but this time, he is claiming to be a lawyer.
  • As of this episode, Proud Snacks is shut down for good.
  • Suga Mama does not appear in this episode.
  • Penny and each of her friends now have a date:
    • Penny and Kareem
    • Dijonay and Darrius
    • Zoey and Myron
    • LaCienega and KG
    • Maya and Billy
    • Michael and Sebastian
  • In addition to voicing Dr. Lord, Holly Robinson Peete is also credited as a consultant for this episode, since her son, Rodney, also has autism.
