"Beach Day Build-Off" is the second segment of the second episode of Pupstruction. It aired on June 14, 2023 on Disney Junior, alongside "Hush Puppies."[1]
Synopsis[]
Bobby Boots wants to show up Pupstruction in front of the mayor, but his attempt backfires.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Phinny, Roxy, Luna, and Tank enjoying a day off at the beach. Roxy, Luna, and Tank are impressed with Phinny's sand castle, which has a shield made of sea shells to protect it from waves. Mayor Gilmore and Lloyd appear, complimenting Phinny's sand castle. The mayor even calls Pupstruction the best construction team ever, much to the annoyance of Bobby Boots, who was eavesdropping on them behind an ice cream cart. Scratch and Sniff agree, but Bobby sings a song about how Lickety-Split Construction is supposedly much better than Pupstruction, despite the fact that their creations usually never stand for very long. Bobby then goes over to them and challenges them to a sand castle building contest: whichever team builds a bigger and better sand castle than the other will be the best construction crew, judged by Mayor Gilmore. Bobby says it will be a friendly contest where the teams get to use their machines, and Pupstruction enthusiastically agrees.
Both teams get to work on their sand castles, and Bobby soon sees that Pupstruction's sand castle is already very big and a lot better than theirs. Bobby decides that to win the contest, he must sabotage Pupstruction's castle, much to the disagreement of Scratch and Sniff, who would rather continue working hard and never give up. Bobby first uses a fan to quite literally blow his away his competition, but Pupstruction's sand castle is so strong that the wind from Bobby's fan comes across as just a gentle breeze, which Pupstruction thanks him for. Bobby's second attempt is to dig a trough that will lead water to Pupstruction's sand castle, but it instead fills out the moat they surrounded their castle with.
After spending time on his thinking tower, Bobby decides that a big wave will destroy Pupstruction's sand castle. He has Scratch and Sniff plant a wave machine into the ocean, and it causes a large wave to wash away Pupstruction's castle. Bobby feigns sympathy, but he accidentally activates his machine and it sends a wave to their sand castle. Pupstruction builds a large wave shield to protect Lickety-Split Construction's sand castle. Mayor Gilmore then declares a tie to the competition, due to the winner being Lickety-Split Construction, but it stands due to Pupstruction's wave shield. The episode ends with the mayor taking a picture with everyone, much to the chagrin of Bobby.
