"Beast in Show" is the second segment of the eleventh episode of Vampirina. It premiered on November 3, 2017 alongside "Oldie But a Ghouldie".
Plot[]
Wolfie is playing catch with Vampirina in Poppy's backyard. He likes it because when he pokes Poppy's plants, they don't poke back. Edna appears with a snack which she drops, but Vampirina catches it. Edna mentions that she brought a snack for Vampirina and Poppy before she heads out to judge this afternoon's dog show. Vampirina likes it, and Edna suggests that Oxana and Boris can come by to watch. Edna thanks Vampirina for catching the tray in time, and wonders what would have happened if Wolfie drank it. Vampirina mentions that turning into a werewolf isn't Wolfie's only talent.
She also mentions that they used to enter shows all the time back in Transylvania, and Wolfie won beast in show a few times. Poppy mentions that it is not normal in Pennsylvania. Vampirina mentions that in Transylvania, werewolves would compete to see who could howl the loudest and leap the highest. Here in Pennsylvania, the winner of a dog show is the dog who moves the most gracefully and sits still for the longest time. Vampirina mentions that Wolfie will do great in the dog show with a little practice, and brings Demi and Gregoria to help.
During the training, Wolfie sits still before he pounces on Gregoria. With enough practice, Wolfie sits still for five seconds. Vampirina thinks that Wolfie has had enough training, and tells Oxana and Boris that they're ready to go to the dog show. Vampirina mentions the day the Hauntleys brought Wolfie from the pound, and how he is a wonderful dog. The Hauntleys feel the same way, and they take Wolfie to the dog show.
Once there, Vampirina and Poppy are told by Poppy that they can sit anywhere. Since they're entering Wolfie in the dog show, although Wolfie is having trouble sitting still. After Vampirina sees another dog sitting still, Poppy tells her that Wolfie has to try his best, as they both believe in him. Edna says that this year, every contestant will take home Moo Moo Mutt's Real Milk Milky Bones, with more milk. Vampirina mentions what would happen if Wolfie has one of the bones. Bridget appears, telling Vampirina that she and Wolfie could use more fans in the audience. Vampirina doesn't have second thoughts, as nothing could go wrong with her friends cheering everyone on.
The dog show then begins. A boy's dog sits perfectly still, while Wolfie quickly goes to Boris and Oxana, with the former stating that Wolfie's doing great. Just as Vampirina tells Poppy how amazing Wolfie did, Wolfie grabs a toy, opening a shelf containing more toys which fall on him. Vampirina and Wolfie then return to the stage, where all the contestants are lining up. Before Edna can announce the winner, Wolfie runs like crazy and chases Miss Cuddlecakes. Wolfie knocks over the milk before being caught by Vampirina. Based on the chaos, Wolfie won't win her first Pennsylvanian dog show after all. While Bridget, Poppy, and Vampirina weren't looking, Wolfie eats a Milky Bone, turning him into a werewolf.
Boris and Oxana like the dog show when Edna tells everyone to head backstage. Vampirina quickly hides Wolfie behind toys, but when he sees a cat, he gets spotted by Edna. Vampirina says that the werewolf is just Wolfie. Bridget and Poppy say that he's dressed up as a werewolf for a costume contest. Edna mentions that none of the other dogs have costumes. Bridget, Vampirina, and Poppy decide for the other dog owners and their parents to make costumes for their dogs, and Edna likes it, as it may save the show.
The grand finale is the canine costume parade. Wolfie then appears, showing off his skills, impressing the fans. Edna declares that the best in show goes to Precious the Poodle. Vampirina mentions that although she lost the dog show, she could never lose with friends like Poppy and Bridget. Edna says that the first-ever prize for best costume goes to Wolfie, for his very realistic werewolf outfit. Vampirina, Poppy, and Bridget like it, and Vampirina says that Wolfie is a vampire's best friend.
