Beautiful, FL is a live action short film in the Launchpad series from Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and was released on Disney+ on September 29, 2023.
Synopsis[]
A teen girl scrambles to get spare parts from her eclectic trailer park neighbors and fix the family RV in time to share her tia abuela’s special flavor in the annual Beautiful, FL Ice Cream Competition.
Plot[]
In a trailer park neighborhood located in Beautiful, Florida, teenage girl Omara tries to make her late Tia Fria proud by recreating her famous ice cream recipe. Despite her best efforts, she is unable to do so efficiently despite the support from her mother Wisp. Omara continues to speak to the photo of Tia Fria who offers cryptic advice to the secret of her recipe. Wisp is suddenly frightened by the appearance of their neighbor's goats and Omara goes to return them.
Omara takes the goats back to her drag queen friend Arthur and tells them about her attempt to recreate Tia Fria's recipe. Arthur agrees that something is missing and reveals that one of the ingredients is goat milk which they happily offer. Omara takes the recipe next to Mel, her gnome obsessed neighbor. Mel also tastes the recipe and reveals that she has a whole plate of brown sugar that was given to her by Tia Fria and states that that is what is missing from the recipe. Omara proceeds to implement these two, but finds that something is still off. Omara proceeds to go to ever neighbor who adds something else to the recipe.
Omara still cannot complete the recipe and is devastated. That is until Wisp arrives and starts a flour fight with her, calming her nerves. Omara finally finishes the recipe, but believes it is too late to get to the competition. Wisp drives her there anyway. Copernicus Cruz, the famous connectionist is about to announce the winner when Omara arrives asking that he at least try her ice cream. Copernicus tastes it and is blown away by it, calling it one of the best things he has tasted. Unfortunately, she is still not allowed to enter due to being late.
Omara apologizes to Tia Fria for not winning the competition, but she tells her that she did not bake for money or fame, but simply to make people around her happy. Omara reveals that she is already planning to recreate another one of her recipes.
In a post-credits scene, Omara is shown to have opened a food truck called "Tia Fria's Creamery".
