Beaver's Dam is a location featured in the 2005 Disney/Walden Media adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Background[]
Beaver's Dam, as its name suggests, was a beaver-built barrier serving as a landmark located within the Lantern Waste area. It is the place that was home to civilized company where Mrs. Beaver and her husband Mr. Beaver accepted visitors who sided with Aslan. The house itself was decorated with twigs, due to it resembling that of a beaver dam in order to make it look like of what a beaver's home is like. As the Pevensies arrived, they were soon taught of a prophecy that they were the ones who would defeat Jadis in order to restore peace and save Narnia. According to the map of Narnia, Beaver's Dam was located by Allies' Enclave and far below the home lies the Western Woods.[1]
Role in the film[]
As Mr. Beaver takes the Pevensies to his family's home, Mrs. Beaver happily reunites with her husband, happy to see him back just as she prepares to make supper for the Pevensies as well as civilized company. During supper, Mrs. Beaver offers Lucy some fish and chips (actually sardines decorated with wood on a plate). Mr. Beaver tells his wife that there is hope that Aslan is on the move to return to Narnia just as Edmund asks Mr. Beaver who Aslan is, which he tells the Pevensies that he is the king of Narnia. The beavers then tell the prophecy that the Pevensies will come to Narnia to defeat the White Witch in order to restore peace. Just as Susan leaves, Mr. Beaver tells her to stay, and just before the four could leave, Peter feels worried that Edmund is not with him just before Edmund is held hostage at Jadis' Castle.
Meanwhile at the Witch's Castle where Jadis is present, she commands Maugrim and the Secret Police to destroy the Beavers' Dam. Just as the wolves arrive, Mr. and Mrs. Beaver and the Pevensies fearfully react to the ambush the wolves are causing destruction within. This leads the beavers to find a secret passageway via tunnel to avoid getting killed by the wolves just as they were able to escape in time while the dam later becomes destroyed, causing them to end up at the Witch's Castle. The remains of the dam are not seen again afterwards.

The Beaver's Dam serves as the sixth level in the console versions of the game where the level itself is presented as a boss level in a battle against the ogre who captured Mr. Beaver. During the battle, ghouls will often appear and attack the player which can make the battle against the ogre more difficult. Once the player attacks the ogre, the player must use either Pevensie to climb onto the ogre to tackle it and then switch to another character to attack the ogre. Additionally as the battle progresses, dwarfs occasionally appear and attempt to make the battle against the ogre tough. The player must use Susan to dispatch the dwarfs using her bow and arrow and then perform the same exact method they did prior to doing same tactic. If not, the dwarfs will fire an arrow at Lucy (as revealed in a triggered cutscene), forcing the player to restart the checkpoint. Once the player takes care of the dwarfs and then finishes depleting the ogre's health using the same method from before, this results in the ogre being defeated as Mr. Beaver thanks the Pevensies for rescuing him.
Trivia[]
- The extended version of the film adds more footage of the Secret Police destroying the beavers' dam, which was not present in the original theatrical release.
