Bellepheron was a Greek hero-king of Corinth from the Hercules episode "Hercules and the Pegasus Incident" .
Role in the series[]
In "Hercules and the Pegasus Incident", Bellepheron acts as the wealthy king and hometown hero figure of Corinth who is in constant battle with the dangerous Chimera and unable to defeat the creature. Pegasus aids Bellepheron in defeating the monster and he decides to take Pegasus as his loyal partner and renames his as Ignatius the "Fiery One" after Pegasus was sent away by Hercules. The two become a great monster-battling team thanks to Pegasus who covers for Bellepheron's incompetence, defeating the Chimera and leaving Hercules heartbroken over the loss of his friend. Hercules attempts to get Pegasus back but an angered Bellepheron decides to try and brainwash Pegasus to become his steed using the Golden Bridle, but is unable to fight the Chimera with Pegasus under its control and is defeated. Pegasus becomes freed from the Bridle and returns home with Hercules.
