"Beta'd and Hooked" is the first segment of the second episode of the Disney Channel animated series Hailey's On It!
Synopsis[]
Hailey and Scott set sail to catch the legendary Blue Ono so they can win the top prize at the Fish Taco Festival.
Plot[]
Hailey and Scott get ready for the local fish taco competition, as them winning it is one of the things on Hailey's list. They put together a pretty good tasting taco, but realize that they do not have any fish to put in it, with the only thing on hand being frozen fish sticks. They ask Hailey's father Kai for any suggestions and he tells them about his encounter with One Eye Jack, a fish that attacked him while he was out surfing and eating chips. The fish destroyed his board and ate all his chips, leaving him confused. Hailey and Scott decide to go get a boat from Uncle Chunk so that they can hunt this fish.
Uncle Chunk, who put an investment in a house boat despite his hatred of the ocean, takes Hailey and Scott out to go fishing. Beta becomes impatient over having to wait such a long time for any fish to show up, but they suddenly get a tug from a large fish, revealed to be the legendary One Eye Jack. They realize it is drawn to their chips and use it to try and capture it, only for Jack to pull the boat via their fishing line. Hailey is forced to cut the fishing wire, but Beta refuses to give up and uses a harpoon, but blasts himself into the water where Jack apparently eats him.
Jack swims up to the boat and spits Beta out, revealing himself to be a very nice and friendly fish. Hailey and Scott agree to let him go as an angry Uncle Chunk drives them back to shore. Without any other option, Hailey and Scott decide to use the fish sticks for their taco where the judge ends up loving the concoction. She immediately gives the two first prize, even though she did not try the other tacos and simply wanted to get to her yoga class on time. Hailey has successfully crossed off another item on her list as Beta has befriended Jack and now rides him across the ocean waters.
