Bette Midler is an American singer, songwriter, actress, comedian, and producer, also known (by her informal stage name) as The Divine Miss M. During her career, she has won four Grammy Awards, four Golden Globes, three Emmy Awards, and a Tony Award, and has been nominated for two Academy Awards. She is well known for her titular role in the 1979 comedy film The Rose and Brenda Morelli Cushman in The First Wives Club. She also voiced Kitty Galore in Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore.
She is named after famed actress Bette Davis, though the pronunciation of her given name differs (Davis pronounced "Bette" with two syllables" "Betty", while Midler uses one syllable" "Bet").
Her most well-known Disney film appearance was in 1993's Hocus Pocus as Winifred Sanderson. She reprised her role in its 2022 sequel, Hocus Pocus 2. She also voiced Georgette the poodle in the 1988 Disney animated feature film Oliver and Company. When she appeared as a guest star on Christmas in Rockefeller Center with Billy Crystal in 2012, she hangs out with the Muppets backstage for a photo-op and takes kisses with Miss Piggy.
She also starred in The Lottery, a short film produced for the Disney's Hollywood Studios Park in Florida for guests of the park’s Backstage Studio Tour.
She was named a Disney Legend at the 2019 D23 Expo.
