Rajah Bhima Disampati is a character featured at the Disney's Animal Kingdom attraction Maharajah Jungle Trek.
Background[]
Bhima Disampati served as the first rajah of the ancient kingdom of Anandapur throughout the sixteenth century. During his life, he was obsessed with hunting throughout the municipality of Anandapur. Throughout 1544, Bhima decreed the forest as a royal preserve only open to the royal family and their invited guests and built a Royal Hunting Lodge in the forest. Enclosing portions of the forest in walls, he would use these spaces to lure and trap the tigers. However, at an unfortunate moment, Bhima was mauled and killed by a Bengal tiger which he intended to hunt. Following his death, Bhima was succeeded by his brother who never cared for hunting but had an appreciate for nature, followed by a new dynasty of rulers coming across Anandapur. Centuries later, a mural of Bhima was decorated around Anandapur to honor his legacy.[1]
