"Big Brother Chad" is the second segment of the fifth episode of Recess.

Synopsis[]

Vince is concerned about whether his big brother Chad is as cool as he thinks.

Plot[]

Vince stands up to a gang of bullies lead by Chucko after he tries to take their marbles away. When everyone tells Vince how cool he is, he modestly tones it down by telling everyone about his cool older brother Chad. The Gang reflects on Chad and how cool he is with Vince mentioning that he is coming to pick him up. Soon, word gets around the school with all the kids reflecting on how Chad encouraged them when they were all younger and prepare for his arrival. Vince is surprised by everyone's anticipation for him, but when he arrives, Chad turns out to be a geeky awkward teen who picks Vince up in a dorky looking bicycle, confusing everyone.

The Gang tell Vince about their opinion on Chad, but he disbelieves them. He tries to reason some of the things he does and wears, but the more he explains the geekier be sounds. At dinner, Vince finally snaps when he realizes that his friends are right about Chad. He goes to his room to tell him that he is a geek and he concurs. Chad explains that he knows that he is a geek and that he does not care as he is proud of who he is. Vince is not convinced and tells his friends that he worries that he will pick up some of Chad's habits and turn into a geek himself when he gets older.

Chucko arrives with his older Cy to get their revenge on Vince, only for Chad to show up. Despite being skinnier and wimpier than Cy, he manages to threaten him by refusing to help him with his math homework, something that actually frightens Cy as they are heading into arithmetic. Cy apologizes to Vince and Chad and leaves with his tail between his legs. Vince thanks Chad for helping him out and he and the rest of the Gang come to the conclusion that Chad is cool after all. The brothers ride off together on their bike as Chad burps the alphabet, which Vince had earlier said was the coolest thing he could do.

Cast[]

Trivia[]

  • First appearance of Chad LaSalle and minor antagonist Chucko.
  • Vince transforming into a geek in the full moon is reminiscent of Max Goof's transformation in the nightmare sequence from A Goofy Movie.
