Big Thunder Mountain is an upcoming American adventure film based on the railroad ride of the same name.
Production[]
Attempts to adapt the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad attraction trace back to 2013, when ABC ordered a pilot for a series adaptation starring Ryan Reynolds, but was ultimately scrapped.[1]
On August 16, 2022, Deadline reported that A film adaptation of the ride entered development, with siblings Michelle and Kieran Mulroney set to write the script for Walt Disney Pictures, with LuckyChap Entertainment and Scott Free Productions co-developing the film. Directing duo Bert and Bertie were set to helm the project; the two were hired after presenting their pitch to Disney; the duo had previously established a positive relationship with the company through their work as episode directors for the Disney+ series Hawkeye (2021), with the studio impressed "from the start" with their vision for the film.[2]
