Bird and Tiger are characters featured in the "Bird and the Robot" show at Epcot part of the World of Motion attraction.
History[]
Background[]
Bird and Tiger were the hosts of the TransCenter section of the attraction where they were encountered in the TransCenter area where the popular animatronic area "Bird and the Robot" was at, starring Bird, an anthropomorphic toucan with a Brooklyn accent, and an assembly-line robot, Tiger (actually the robotic arm of a GM-developed PUMA). They entertained guests with acts about the advanced technology of the GM assembly line throughout the show.
Development History[]
The "Bird and the Robot" show was one of the most popular animatronic shows since Epcot's opening in October 1, 1982. When World of Motion first opened with the rest of Epcot as an opening day attraction, the "Bird and the Robot" show became popular since then with Bird and Tiger on entertaining guests who disembarked from vehicles from the World of Motion attraction. Bird was the one who does the talking while his partner Tiger used his own arm to interact with objects while being asked by Bird throughout the show.
World of Motion permanently closed on January 2, 1996, entirely removing the "Bird and the Robot" show to make way for Test Track.
Appearances[]
World of Motion[]
When guests arrived at the Bird and the Robot show section after disembarking from their vehicles at World of Motion, they would encounter the former Bird and the Robot show where it showed Bird and Tiger entertaining guests. Bird was the one talking to the audience while entertaining guests while Tiger was also the one who entertained guests while using his own arm to interact with other objects during the show, despite not being able to talk. Bird and Tiger entertained guests with acts about the advanced technology of the GM assembly line throughout the show. After the show, Bird told the audience to follow the arrow leading to the exit seen on the screen just before the next show began.
Trivia[]
- Bird's animatronic was originally built for the Tokyo Disneyland version of Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room prior to becoming repurposed for Epcot.
