Bjorn is a supporting character in the 2024 sci-fi horror film Alien: Romulus. He is part of a group scavengers that accidentally encounter the dangerous Xenomorphs.
Background[]
Personality[]
Bjorn is a very spirited youth, though this means that he is also immature. He has a very carefree, yet cynical outlook on things and isn't afraid to speak his mind. He has a strong dislike towards androids, including Andy whom he constantly belittles. He tends to act without thinking and panics quicker than the other scavengers. His thoughtless actions ultimately end up leading to putting his friends in danger and lead to his demise.
Role in the film[]
Bjorn lived on Jackson's Star with his cousins Tyler and Kay Harrison and his girlfriend Navarro. Sometime in the past, Bjorn gained a strong hatred towards synthezoids as he blames them for the death of his parents. While they were working in the mines, a synthezoid refused to aid them as they had a least likely chance of surviving a cave in. Bjorn had since stayed close with his family as they were the only people he had left.
When the group learned that a disused Weyland-Yutani lab has just entered their orbit, the group made plans to fly up to it in their cargo ship, the Corbelan, and acquire its resources so that they can make a solo trip to the planet Yvaga. At Tyler's suggestion, the group recruit their mutual friend Rain Carradine and her synthezoid companion Andy whom Bjorn immediately voices his distrust and animosity towards, though he does acknowledge that he is necessary in their mission.
Upon arriving at the Romulus and Remus, Bjorn enters the ship with Tyler and Andy. He humorously suffers the worst due to the ship constantly altering its artificial gravity and him landing in uncomfortable positions. They find cryo-pods needed for their journey, but they do not have enough energy for the nine years, forcing them to search for cryo-fuel. During the search, Bjorn rips into Andy by revealing that Rain had no plans to take Andy with them as they most likely do not allow synthezoids on Yvaga.
The group find cryo-fuel, but get trapped in a lab with Facehuggers. Bjorn and Tyler are forced to fight them off while Navarro and Rain rush to their rescue. Using a chip taken from a disused synthezoid, they insert it into Andy who reboots and gets them free from the lab. Unfortunately, one of the Facehuggers latches onto Navarro. They reawaken the disused synthezoid, named Rook, who tells them about the Xenomorph and their biology and actions. Using some of the cryo-fuel, they manage to remove the Facehugger from her face, but Rook tells them they are too late. When it is suggested they kill her, Bjorn angrily takes Navarro back to the Corbelan, leaving Tyler, Rain, and Andy behind.
Navarro meets her end when a newborn Xenomorph bursts from her chest, killing her. Bjorn is knocked out from the Corbelan shifting across the Remus and destroying its rocket. They manage to dock on the Romulus with Bjorn becoming delirious from the trip. He learns of Navarro's death, but continues on, encountering Kay who had just discovered a cocoon the Xenomorph made. Using a long stick taser that he had picked up earlier, Bjorn shocks the cocoon in an effort to kill the creature. This does very little as it distends its tail and stabs him in the eye. He falls underneath it as its acidic blood drips on him, killing him slowly and painfully.
Trivia[]
- Bjorn is supposedly Tyler and Kay's cousin. However, it is unknown if they are actually related by blood. It's possible that he and Tyler are related due to their British accents, but Kay noticeably speaks with an American accent.
- A Reddit user correctly guessed, and was later confirmed by Fede Álvarez, that Bjorn was the father of Kay's baby.[1]
