Black Bolt (real name Blackagar Boltagon) is a Marvel Comics character who appears in the 2022 film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He is an alternate version of Black Bolt from Earth-838. He is a member of the Illuminati, a collective of highly intelligent individuals who operate behind the scenes.
Background[]
At some point before 2018, Black Bolt joined the Illuminati, a team that became the new version of the Avengers and the new protectors. In 2018, the universe was invaded by Thanos and Doctor Strange studied the Darkhold on how to defeat Thanos. When the Illuminati arrived on Titan, they were able to kill Thanos and prevent him from erasing half of the universe, but Strange informed them that he had been studying the Darkhold, which made him become corrupted after he had been dreamwalking and found the Book of vishanti that would stop Thanos. After Thanos was killed, the Illuminati decided to eliminate Doctor Strange for using the Darkhold, and Black Bolt was tasked with doing the exacusion and killed Strange by using his sonic scream.
After the team returned to earth, they informed Christine Palmer of Stephen's death and made a plaque as well as a statue for people to admire, making them believe that this Strange sacrificed his life to defeat Thanos.

- Superhuman Physical Attributes:
- Sonic Scream: Black Bolt developed the ability to release hypersonically amplified sound waves through his vocal cords. Due to the inhuman physiology, he has the ability to use his scream to eliminate those he uses it against.
Role in the film[]
When 616 Stephen Strange meets the Illuminati, he is warned by Captain Carter and 838 Captain Marvel to be careful what he says as Black Bolt can kill Strange if he is not careful. When the Illuminati learn that their headquarters have been breached by the Scarlet Witch, Black Bolt goes with his teammates (minus Baron Mordo) to confront the witch. However, when Mr. Fantastic tries to warn Wanda that Black Bolt can kill her with his sonic voice, he witch takes the upper hand and kills him by removing his mouth, which makes him panic, and causing his sonic scream to blow his head.
