Bluey is an Australian 2D-animated television series that premiered on Disney Junior on September 9, 2019 in the United States[1] and in the United Kingdom on October 28, 2019. It was distributed on Disney+ on 22 January 2020.


With the setting inspired by the city of Brisbane, the series follows an anthropomorphic six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy named Bluey, who is characterized by her abundance of energy, imagination and curiosity at the world. She lives with her father, Bandit; mother, Chilli; and younger sister, Bingo, who regularly joins Bluey on adventures as the pair embark on imaginative play together. Overarching themes include the focus on family, growing up and Australian culture, with all of the characters representing a particular dog breed. Each episode runs for the length of 7 minutes. The show will be co-commissioned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), with BBC Studios holding the global distribution and merchandising rights.

Characters and Cast

  • Bluey Heeler, a six-year-old Blue Heeler and the show's title character.
  • Bingo Heeler, a four-year-old Red Heeler and Bluey's sister.
  • David McCormack as Dad/Bandit Heeler, Bluey and Bingo's father and Chilli's husband. He is a Blue Heeler who is an archaeologist.
  • Melanie Zanetti as Mum/Chilli Heeler, Bluey and Bingo's mother and Bandit's wife. She is a Red Heeler who works in airport security.
  • Dan Brumm as Stripe Heeler, Bluey and Bingo's uncle, Muffin and Socks' father, Trixie's husband and Bandit's brother.
  • Myf Warhurst as Trixie Heeler, Bluey and Bingo's aunt, Muffin and Socks' mother and Stripe's wife.
    • Warhurst also voices Indie's Mum, an Afghan Hound who sells gluten free cakes at the market.
  • Charlotte Stent as Judo, a Japanese Spitz who is Bluey's bossy and impatient next-door neighbour.
    • Stent also voices Chloe, a Dalmatian who is one of Bluey's school friends.
  • Megan Washington as Calypso, a Blue Merle Australian Shepard who is Bluey's school teacher.
  • Ann Kerr as Mrs. Retriever, a Golden Retriever who is Bingo's kindergarten teacher.



  • The child characters are voiced by children of the show's production crew and are uncredited as voice actors.
