Technically, Ariel didn't even NEED a lover (especially considering that she already had a desire to live among humans long before she even MET Eric, and heck, right before Under the Sea, despite crushing on Eric, initially was content with merely appearing in mermaid form and asking about humanity from him.). And Belle didn't need a lover either (in fact, if anything, Beast needed her far more than she needed him), and in fact seemed to hate the idea of marriage anyway. So I still don't see the issue.

EDIT: Besides, if the novelization is of any indication, even Merida got married someday.

EDIT: Besides, if the novelization is of any indication, even Merida got married someday.
