Robert "Bob" Crowley (RDI) is an Irish Tony Award winning theatre designer (scenic and costume) and director, who, for Disney, designed theatrical productions of Aida (Tony Winner), Mary Poppins (Tony Winner), Tarzan, Aladdin, and a reimagined European production of The Little Mermaid.
Born in Cork, Ireland, Crowley trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He has designed over 20 productions for the National Theatre including Ghetto, The Madness of George III, Carousel, and The History Boys. as well as productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company including Henry V, Love's Labour's Lost, The Winter's Tale, The Plantagenets As You Like It, and Les Liaisons Dangereuses, and the Royal Opera House where worked on La Traviata.
Many of his production designs later transferred to Broadway where he would be nominated awards for Carousel (1994), Aida (2000), The History Boys (2006), Mary Poppins (2007), The Coast of Utopia (2007), Once (2012), and An American in Paris (2015). Other shows he worked on include Love Never Dies, The Audience, Skylight, Like Water for Chocolate, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Macbeth, Hamlet, The Capeman, The Iceman Cometh, Twelfth Night, The Invention of Love, Cressida, The Witches of Eastwick, Mourning Becomes Electra, The Glass Menagerie, and The Inheritance.
He also served as costume designer for the 1996 film adaptation of The Crucible.
