"Bode" is the second episode of the Disney+ series Iwájú.

Synopsis[]

From his high tech lair, villainous Bode sets his sights on Tola as his next kidnapping victim and mysteriously seeks Tola's friend, Kole. Meanwhile, Tola and Kole learn more about each other's lives and perspectives.

Plot[]

In flashback, Bode and his mother are kicked out of their wealthy employer's home after Bode stole money from them. Bode's mother is upset that he would do such a thing as he explains that he was tired of being poor and felt that taking some money from them is nothing compared to the hardships they have to endure.

In the present, Bode congratulates his crew on another job as he pays them all off for help in the kidnapping of a child, whom he later returns. He continues to becomes fixated on Tunde after he was unable to scan him earlier, but thanks to his two main lackeys Happiness and Sunday, he is able to learn his identity. He realizes that due to his tech wealth, he will be able to have more access to more names.

Kole is revealed to find Tunde intimidating, while Tola still considers him her closest friend. She attempts to dress up Otin, but still cannot figure out why her father gave her an electronic lizard as a pet. Bored, she approaches Kole and ask that he play with her, but he refuses, telling her that their class systems are too different and that Tunde would not approve. Despite this, Tola manages to get him to have fun with her.

After a day of fun, Tola invites Kole to eat with her, with even the chef showing some disdain for Kole's appearance. As they eat, Tola voices her displeasure over the fact that no one, neither Kole or Tunde, will talk about their homes or stories and she feels that she is entitled to knowing more about them. Kole continues to show reluctance over speaking about his background and even tells her that he needs to go home to his mother.

The dinner is interrupted by the arrival of Tunde who is angered over seeing Kole eating at their table and orders him to go back outside and clean their gutters. Despite Tola informing Tunde that it was her idea, Kole concedes. Tunde further is not amused with how Tola has been treating Otin and tells her to take him to her room, adding that she can forget about visiting the mainland again.

That rainy evening, Kole is unable to take the bus due to not having the proper change. As he heads home, he gets a call from Bode who has been looking for him.
