Robert Alba Keith, known professionally as Brian Keith, was an American film, television, and stage actor, whose Disney roles included William "Bill" Dunn in Ten Who Dared, Mitch Evers in The Parent Trap, Major General John M. Vanneman in Moon Pilot, Beck Coates in Savage Sam, Sheriff Pete Williams in A Tiger Walks, Cam Calloway in Those Calloways, John McCanless in Scandalous John, Shadrach O'Reilly in the Walt Disney Presents episodes "Elfego Baca: Move Along, Mustangers" and "Elfego Baca: Mustang Man, Mustang Maid", Sergeant Gabe Trotter in the Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color episode "Johnny Shiloh", Lue Swank in the Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color episode "Bristle Face", Mose Cannon in the Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color episode "The Tenderfoot", and General Newmeyer in the Disney Sunday Movie episode "The B.R.A.T. Patrol".
Keith was born in Bayonne, New Jersey, on November 14, 1921 and made his acting debut on Broadway as part of the ensemble Mister Roberts, Darkness at Noon, and Out West of Eighth. Transitioning to films, Keith appeared in several films throughout The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming, The Wind and the Lion, Tiger Spot, The Raiders, Meteor, The Deadly Companions, The Hallelujah Trial, The Rare Breed, The Mountain Men, and Young Guns.
His television work included a wide range of lead and supporting roles in shows, like Heartland, The Westerner, The Brian Keith Show, Hardcastle and McCormick, Police Story, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Outlaws, The Virginian, Wagon Train, Centennial, Major Dad, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Spider-Man, Cybill, Touched by an Angel, and Walker, Texas Ranger. However, his most recognized TV role is bachelor-uncle-turned-reluctant-parent Bill Davis in the 1960s sitcom Family Affair, which also featured fellow Disney actor Sebastian Cabot.
