"Bridge on the River Gummi" is the first segment of the forty-second episode of the Adventures of the Gummi Bears. It premiered on September 30, 1989, and was later paired with "Life of the Party", becoming the first segment of the third episode in the fifth season.
When an old bridge that Grammi and Sunni use to run an errand collapses, Gusto convinces Gruffi to build a bigger, more elaborate bridge. Igthorn, however, takes advantage of the new bridge to transport his new weapon to Dunwyn.
- The segment's title and plot is a parody of the 1957 movie The Bridge on the River Kwai.
- This is originally the twentieth episode to premiere separately from its sibling segment, which had aired the previous week. Both segments were later combined, as originally intended, for all subsequent airings; though the episode order was flipped.
