Brooklyn is a character from the Disney Channel animated series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. She is one of the members of the Intermediate School 833 volleyball team and friend and classmate of Lunella Lafayette.
Background[]
Personality[]
Brooklyn is a charismatic and friendly person who is open and confident with people, even those who are nervous around her, such as Lunella. She has a domineering personality, as evidenced by the fact that she is the captain of the volleyball team. However, Brooklyn is not afraid to get tough and rowdy with people. She was quick to give a disapproving glare towards Eduardo after he said that soccer was boring, which was enough to get him to retract his statement. She also freaks out when her younger brother, TJ is giving her a hard time and does not hold back to yell at him. Despite this, she clearly loves him.
Physical appearance[]
Brooklyn is a tall, Latina teenage girl with light brown skin, large black eyes, red lips, and long, wavy dark brown hair tied into a low ponytail by a beige hair tie. She has small orange earrings, a red headband, her red, white, and yellow volleyball jersey, long black pants, and black and white sneakers. Brooklyn is seldom seen without her volleyball gear on.
Appearances[]
Brooklyn made her first appearance, albeit unvoiced, in "Moon Girl Landing" where she gave Eduardo the stink eye after he said that volleyball was boring. Apparently it was enough to get him to sheepishly admit that Megan Rapinoe was cool. She next made a brief appearance in "Check Yourself", rooting on Lunella against LOS-307. Her next major appearance was in "The Beyonder" where she teamed up with her volleyball teammate Geri for the science fair and end up winning.
Brooklyn becomes an important character in the episode "Goodnight, Moon Girl" where she invites Lunella and Casey Calderon to a sleepover with her and her volleyball team. Brooklyn is shown to be calm and cool around Lunella, but angry and frustrated with her annoying younger brother, TJ. Later, when she sees TJ being harassed by Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, she and her friends team up against her brother declaring that he most likely deserved what he was getting. Afterwards, she comforts Lunella by telling her that it is okay to be weird as they all have strange quirks.
Brooklyn and her crew reappear in the episode "Dancing With Myself" where she managed to snag a date with a boy, despite initially promising that they were all going to go as singles. When Lunella breaks down and admits that she is not ready to date anyone, everyone agrees except for Brooklyn, who says that she is all about dating, and Cecelia who is dating Eli.
Trivia[]
- Brooklyn is a member of the volleyball team, though based on her reaction in "Moon Girl Landing", she might also be into soccer (football).
- Brooklyn is revealed to be transgender in the unaired Season 2 episode "The Gatekeeper",[1] which was previously hinted at by the sticker on her thermos. Her voice actress, Indya Moore, is also transgender and non-binary.
